How many different front-ends of hive exist? And which one should a user actually use? And after crating a hive account, does this mean that the users need to create a different account for every different front-end? What about communities?
These are only some of the queries that a newbie is trying to find the answers for.
And I am not making this up :)
Look at a response/questions I received in one of my Publish0x post
I am also tagging this user, hopefully they will see this notification. @aryastark
What is hive & how many front ends are there?
Hive is a blockchain, operating on DPoS. It boasts fast transaction times (around 3 seconds) and no fees, which is why developers can create dApps, games and more. You can see more information and the official links here, github and the explorer here.
After you create a hive account [You can find some ways here or you can use my referral link here so that I know who you are :))], you can have access to any front end that uses the hive blockchain
How many front-ends are there - and how to choose the one for me?
There are many different dApps, front-ends (websites) and games that could get you confused, but I am here to give you all the information you need.
You can find all the information you need in the ecosystem page of hive.io or in the hive projects
Please, dont, be intimidated by all these apps.
Which dApps I mostly use
I will write a few words about the apps / front ends that I mostly use at this time, but please bear in mind that I often try out also different ones. I would use more if my old phone was new :) But I am hopeful for the future.
InLeo.io
inleo.io is a hive front end that also rewards its users with another Layer2 token, $leo. There is a whole community that is very active in promoting web3 and I enjoy being a part of it.hive.blog
This was my first front-end and I use it sometimes, because I feel very familiar with it. (there are some limitations using it, i.e. you cannot use more than 5 tags etc).PeakD
Peakd.com is a fantastic front-end, easy to use and with many functionalities.Ecency
@Ecency is available both as a dApp and in web and it is very easy to use. It also rewards its users with points, which can then be used to promote your post.Actifit
@actifit is an app that can be used to track your daily activity and then when you post about it on hive, you can be rewarded with $afit in addition to all the other token rewards.3Speak
https://3speak.tv is a website where you can directly upload your video, and it will appear as a blog post with an embedded video in other front ends! It also has been integrated with other dApps such as Ecency, @actifit etc.
You can take your time getting to know about them all in time, my suggestion is to focus on something else.
Community
This is the most important thing that you will find in hive.
Is it something that you enjoy doing? Do you have a special hobby? You will definitely find many other users that enjoy it too! You may even find a community that discusses about it.
If you vlog, if you cook, if you sing, if you jog, if you play, if you travel, if you enjoy science, finance, if you like photographs ... hive is the place for you!
There are also communities that reward you with extra Layer2tokens (but this is already too much information for one post)
You can find a list with all communities here:
https://hive.blog/communities
https://inleo.io/communities
https://peakd.com/communities
I hope that this post has answered some of your questions.
In short..
- If you create a Hive account, you can use your credentials for any front-end, dApp, game that is hive-based.
- There are different front ends and different communities that you can join.
- Most of the front-ends allow you to select your community
Before starting your hive journey, I recommend that you read about how it works, the difference in hive keys, how to be safe. This is a guide that you can read, and of course, google is your friend!
Thank you for dropping by, please let me know if you have any queries!
Tagging my friend @learningpages who is new here, in case there is anything else he would like me to answer in a future post.
If you are brand new here, maybe you should start with this post: https://inleo.io/@katerinaramm/-what-ishive-a-short-guide-to-get-you-started
Posted Using InLeo Alpha
Thanks for this post, and please post about witness. Witness is important in Hive.
True, I was thinking about that too.
Many users (not necessarily the new ones), know nothing about it :)
I'm active on InLeo.io, hive.blog and PeakD. I'll have a look at the others. Thanks for the mention. I'm sure I'll have lots more questions. I've just "threaded" my latest.
That's a nice question! I do not know the answer, but if you receive no responses I will also check it out!
Thank you for your continuing support. I have been experimenting since my last reply. I think one way to stop the comments is to go to @gmfrens using PeakD (this method doesn't work with InLeo) and click "INTERACTIONS" > "Mute". The downside of doing it this way is that you won't be able to see your GM tokens.
This is a great guide for newbies and old users a like.
Very adventurous
Thank you for sharing this information with us
It's good to have the communities that they are, so I'm mostly using 3Speak and ecency because my content is mostly video.
I never knew we have so many front ends. I’m familiar with Inleo, Ecency, Threespeak and PeakD
