Putting down roots is slow, boring, and lacks excitement.
Well, maybe for some people. But I have found my recent months putting down roots into Hive among the most exciting times of my life.
I'm reminded of my early career when I was tasked with researching, planning, then finally implementing computerisation of the manual accounting systems. Sure, some aspects were boring. Like sitting around all night waiting for the early small mainframe to install upgrades. But my memories are mainly of exciting times with new technology. And tremendous opportunities that led to me working in Hong Kong physically. And many other countries remotely.
So from that excitement at the beginning of my career, I'm looking forward to more excitement at the beginning of my retirement, next year. I've no idea where this is leading. But I'm really enjoying putting down these roots. So the results don't really matter to me.
