I'm not sure if it was the same Kawasaki Brand that made the motorcycles but that be out of my research terms of reference.

The Nippon Maru II 1984 is built by the Sumitomo Heavy Industries Corp, It's bigger and better at 361 Feet long with 2 x 1500 hp engines, 2,891 Tonnes, a crew of 190 ...still no Cannons!
It showed up in Vancouver Harbor during a Sea Festival when I was just a toddler, an awe inspiring and amazing sight.
