That's what I heard as stories from some senior local coin club members here. The 1980 Hunt Brothers silver price boom led to untold silver coinage, sterling wares, bars , etc flooded over the border to Washington to be refined into bulk investment grade silver. Who really knows what rarities have been lost that year.

It's sad to think about how much art was just melted down all in the name of profits...
I am doing my part, so to speak, to 'save' the vintage pieces, while at the same time buying modern coins, bars, and rounds, in both gold and silver... until I convert some of them to gold, lol!
