In short, multitasking keeps you from thinking and makes it harder to believe. Focusing on one thing long enough to form a thought about it is what it means to think—not picking up other people's thoughts or remembering facts, even if those things can be helpful sometimes—putting your thoughts together. That is, making up your mind. You can't do that for 20 seconds while getting Facebook or Twitter messages, playing with your iPod, or watching something on YouTube.
