They could be amenable to adjustment.
What if they cannot maintain their ideals and values in line with yours and are unwilling to try? You could only need to relocate a little bit away from them, or you might need to go much further away, depending on how different you are from them. If friends were layers or rings, you would have your closest friends, primary friends, acquaintances, and finally friends of friends.
That could last a lifetime or result from their failing to agree with your ideals and beliefs. They could be inspired to change or drift even more away from you.
