Are Most People Who Stake Non-CUB Tokens Just Dumping CUB?

in LeoFinance4 years ago (edited)

Here's what I've been thinking about CUB, where it's at and where/when it might go up. People came into Cub DeFi from various places. Some from Hive or LeoFinance, and some from hearing about it elsewhere.

A lot of people are just dumpers. They came in with non-CUB tokens, they gave a 2-4% deposit. Any and all CUB they get is gravy (after recouping the fee cost) and they sell it to make money. Period.

Some don't care about CUB at all. They have their non-CUB tokens, and they are selling CUB to either 1) get more of that token and stake it to get more earnings, or simply cashing out into BTC or whatever token and not bother staking more for more returns.

When will the downward pressure on CUB end? When there are more people who care to buy CUB and keep it, rather than dump it. It seems pretty logical to me, maybe I'm wrong. Until then, CUB will continue to be dumped over and over as the people who just want to sell it will continue to sell it.

Obviously, if you compound into your farm or den, you sell the CUB to get more of what you are staking. It's not that you don't care about CUB, but you want to bein the farm you want to be in ;)

Is $2 the bottom? Maybe, but I'm not sure. I think it can go either way, and sideways or down for a while yet before more blood gets pumped into the system from the outside. Fresh blood that wants to buy CUB, not just dump it ;)

Only the people who want CUB and CubeDeFi to succeed care to not sell it all off.

What can combat this? Hype. Marketing. People wanting to get CUB because they can do something with it (other than sell it or stake it). The others who just want to exploit the system to put up their tokens in a den or farm, and collect CUB to sell it and make profit over and over, well they will still be doing that. But if you have some utility in the token, that goes a long way to keep people holding it. Like HIVE and LEO.

The bridge is going to bring some utility. And there are more plans in the works I'm sure. Lending I think is one.

It's going to take some time for CUB to rise again, barring a change in behavior of those who are staking other tokens and dumping their CUB, or until there are more people who come in and not dump CUB just to get as much as they can.

That's all some are interested in. They want to extract as much value by selling CUB to make back their deposit fee equivalent in USD that they lost, and then continue to sip on the gravy train.

I'd say even some people who are staking CUB in the farm are selling off all their earnings, not just half to compound right back into the CUB farm. They keep the CUB that's already there just to get the most APR so that can sell, sell, sell for other tokens they prefer to have and hold for some time.

I don't know where the floor is. But I'm earning CUB, so it's all about the long game now.

That's what I see going on anyways. Am I wrong? What do you think will turn the tide? What am I missing?

Let me know! :D

Would anyone ever ask if people who are farming Sushi care about Sushi? They are farming interest and getting paid for tying up their coins in an exchange/swap, which is what is happening on Cub as well.

It's not a test of caring, it is a test of creating supply at a level which matches the demand. Sushi also did not launch out of the gate at high prices.

I haven't sold any cub, but I am farming cub not because I want to care about it... Rather because at some point I hope it is profitable. I have a long term view on it, but others have different financial goals.

The idea is to make LEO a very desirable token to farm, and I have no question the Leo team will continue to work at that.

Also once the bridge is here I think many will move funds over from less profitable staking. I know I am planning on it.

Hang in there, it will sort out.

I see it as you can care about making money, care about a project succeeding, care about various things and/or combinations of them all. These aren't tests, just what people are motivated to do.

My point was some people just don't care about the new token and the project that's behind it, they just want/care to extract as much value as they can, whichever way they can. "Oh look, a new farming coin, time to jump in and take advantage of it while its early and APR is higher. I'll just dump what I get and take out my staked tokens when I'm ready to bail and I just made a bunch of money in the meantime by staking it."

It's not a 13 months stake, or 1 month. You're not locking it up really, it can be taken out in an instant. The deposit would be lost, so you are stuck locking it up for some time if you care to make back the fee. And that's why they sell CUB because they want to make sure they get their fee back. All about making gains no matter what, driving the price down doesn't matter as they will be selling on the way down while other hold the bags.

The supply is there, inflation is fixed, I don't see there being a need for any test to create supply. Demand helps push up the price, and that helps to combat the selling pressure.

I was suggesting there are these people, and that's why the price goes down because they just want to get what they can while they can. They don't care about the project or seeing CUB go higher, they are in it for the short term gains.

I'm in it for the long run so the falling price is meh, not great, but all good long term for what I see, sell sell faster dumpers ;)

Well, I also think it could do great things if CUB gets well established. Long term view.

Some are going to come for the farming, just like I entered other markets for the rewards.

I think for being brand new it is doing just fine.

Nice jump up to $3 when I woke up this AM. :)

Yes, I was surprised. Due to good news on the den/farm changes yesterday maybe?

Interesting that you say that, because this is what I love about the Leo team. They pivot when they need to.

I did see it as good news, even though one of the pools I was in closed. wbnb

I am in the same situation. I only have like 750 LP tokens staked in the CUB/BUSD pool. I have to sell half of the CUB I get for BUSD so I can continue to stake. IF there was a deposit fee for CUB/BUSD or a higher fee for selling CUB it could balance out better overall.

That's interesting, so if you want the high APR you're gonna pay for it! hehe. I think the no fees on CUB-based dens and farms is to further incentivize using them. But then again with high APR, they would still be the most popular farms.

I'm not sure whose selling but it's possible to track it easily enough.

This whole thing really is a test for how interested the wider crypto community is in Leo.

It wouldn't surprise me if some prominent members of the LEO community are selling CUB hard, given that so many of them have dumped Hive and are proud of the fact, that's almost like a badge of honour in LEO.

It is a finance community after all.

I don't see a test for how interested people are in Leo. That interest is generated over time by creating things, things that others are interested in using, or that they will want to be part of, and making money is part of that for sure.

I'm sure big and small players are, because they want to make money ;) Price going down doesn't matter to them when they are making money in the process making that happen. The bulls and apes will pick the price back up after.

Apes?

Never heard that term before?!

Law of nature favors both party.
The party of Cub will prevail in the long run
cause Cub finance apr will favor cub holders.
Glad there will be a change to benefit Cub holders.

Yup, long runner with CUB will win out. I was just thinking about how the dumpers just want to dump and get their money. If they don't have CUB, then they are just in it for as long as they can be in it and still win, and those who have CUB will just be bigger winners. In the meantime, the ups and owns of buyers vs sellers lol until the hype kicks in.

Sovereignty would entitle people to do as the please their possessions, I respect the sovereign man.

Yes they may, no matter what their motivation are, they can and will do as they wish.

I am a long term hold on CUB. I have some tokens in the pools, but all of my CUB goes into the Den. I have been trying to promote it a bit on Twitter. One of the big female crypto influencers was asking for DeFi recommendations the other day so I made sure to plug CUB and Leo Finance. I noticed a few other people did too. Hopefully it pays off!

Lol it’s not even a month yet I don’t know why everyone’s trying to figure out what’s going on! I personally couldn’t be bothered I get my cub abs i compound it abs go on with my day

No one knows what will happen and tokenomics like any market needs time to take effect

I don’t know why everyone’s trying to figure out what’s going on

My thoughts exactly. It reminds me of those YouTube video posters who post about the price of BTC every day. I'm in awe of how they can come up with something to say day in and day out. Although, given the number of charts they have at their disposal maybe it isn't so surprising. 😂

I would get sooooo bored? Even if I was trading millions. 😂

Lol shocking hot take from YouTubers but the sad fact is many of them aren’t even traders or hodlrs they just fiat milkers who want to source some views! It would be another thing if someone said I convert all my yourube rev into BTC but they don’t becAuse many of them don’t even believe in it

Having seen how so many fall off the radar when it’s bear times I know they’re just paid shill platforms

The 2 I follow are genuine traders and very good at it. (As far as I can tell 😁). I don't watch everything they put out. I just tune in when I'm curious about something.

One's single and one has a family and I also tune in because their life styles intrigue me, being so different from my own. 😂
