Medium, like Substack and Hive, is a writing platform which rewards writers. It does this through its Partner Program. The algorithm for calculating the rewards is not transparent, but it is based on members’ interactions with your stories.
Medium has recently announced that a change is coming to the way they approach stories in the Partner Program about Medium. They call these ‘meta’ stories.
I didn’t know that Medium are already keeping ‘meta’ stories out of readers’ feeds unless they've specifically asked to follow them.
Medium have said, “We often hear from our members that these kinds of stories aren't the ones they want to read, much less pay for.”
As usual, I haven’t been able to verify this type of statement, but I would have thought that readers would ignore stories that they don’t want to read or pay for.
In March, Medium will start notifying writers when they see ‘meta’ stories behind the paywall, and then begin removing them!
Needless to say, I won’t be publishing this story on Medium.

I read the letter in my email and they also confirmed they will continue with the current earning algorithm which has quite low earnings per ready. Yesterday on 22 reads I made only 0.42 dollars :(.
