The strange case of Mr. Pickerton, an NFT who traveled from the future (don't be afraid, it's just a tale) ...

in LeoFinance4 years ago

The day had dawned cloudy and cold. Dr. Anastasia Brumenshaft had a quick breakfast and went outside to go to her study. There was something that was bothering her, but she didn't really know what it was. She didn't like anything about the guy who had phoned her to make an appointment. It wasn't because she lacked experience. For 30 years she had earned an international reputation as a psychoanalyst specializing in special cases of madness, and had dealt with lunatics, individuals who believed themselves animals, envoys of gods, kings, and queens whose possessions were not recognized, people who lived inside a closet, and also, travelers from the future. And this individual whom she was going to meet in minutes had told her that he came from the future. He had named himself with an acronym that she had not understood. But that was not what disturbed her, but the calmness of this individual's speech, his poise, his reluctance to obtain an order from a professional to access her. It was all very weird. But she had no fear, just feminine curiosity, tinged somewhat with inexplicable worry.

  • Thank you for having me, Doctor. Your reputation is very high and I was sent directly to see you.

  • It's my pleasure, Mr. Pickerton. Who sent you?

  • My creator

  • Who is your creator?

  • A TAR player of the year 2060

  • So you come from the year 2060?

  • That's right, a few minutes ago I was a few meters from here but 39 years later.

The doctor sighed. It will be a remarkable morning.

  • You are telling me that your creator is a player of what game?

  • TAR. Is a blockchain game created in 2025 and that survives for decades, because it is so simple that it becomes extremely difficult to play. TAR is the acronym for “The Anarchy Revolution”. A maximum of 10,000,000 people are allowed to play TAR, and there is a queue to enter of more than 5 billion people, which is roughly half the world's population in 2060.

  • What is said a success.

-That's right.

  • And why is it so successful? You can make a lot of money playing TAR?

  • You can earn a lot of money, but the attraction is not the money, but the metaverse that was created, which allows an experience of maximum freedom. It is an extreme of the hyper-reality in which an individual can really do what he/she wants without rules, without governments, without collection agencies, without anyone to tell him/her what to do, and everything works in perfect harmony.

  • The dream of a paradise that we all seek.

  • Yes, but in a parallel metaverse. The concept of hyper-reality developed at extreme levels between 2020 and 2050. We are facing a new level of consciousness that even in 2060 many do not understand. I already told you, only half of the world population is interested in entering to play TAR.

  • Could you give me an idea of what that amazing game consists of, who is the player that created you, and, by all the hell! why did you come to see me !!???

  • TAR is a planet of the same dimensions as Earth, but instead of continents, there are only 1,000 islands of 10,000 km2 which is the surface of Jamaica. The maximum capacity of people on each island is 10,000, not one more. People buy a property of 5 hectares and that is their only property on the island. On this land, he/she can build the house of his/her dreams and the factory where they will carry out their activity. The player can bring photos, renders, and 3D images of his/her house and factory, which will be recorded forever on the TAR blockchain for when they want to show their friends where they live. All construction materials are free on the island and provided by the community that must plan the new entry. Everything else, tools, raw materials, animals, plants, belongs to the community of that island. People have a profession, and they are in the exact number to meet the needs of the community, whatever the size at any given time until it reaches a maximum of 10,000 people. People can have children, always planning that they cannot exceed 10,000 people. They all live to be 100 years old, at which time the system automatically terminates them. The ability of each player, according to his/her profession, is to plan once a month how many units he/she is going to produce of what he/she produces so that the community is supplied and has no shortages. The leftovers are not only not rewarded but are punished based on a certain tolerance. The player earns an amount of $TAR, which is the ecosystem utility token if his/her plan was successful and he/she fulfilled the task that he/she had scheduled. If not, TAR is deducted from his/her wallet. If the player runs out of TAR in his/her wallet, the system cancels his/her membership and he/she cannot re-enter, leaving the property vacant for someone else to buy it. The TAR blockchain works with a consensus protocol called PoP, that is, proof of planning.

  • And that $TAR token has a high value?

  • You mean how many dollars is a $TAR worth?

  • Exactly

  • Look doctor, the dollar ceased to exist a long time ago. In 2060 no one knows what fiat money is all about. But yes, expressed in terms of other cryptocurrencies, $TAR is very valuable, which is why so many people want to get in the game.

  • But doesn't this business of established professions sound like communist-type central planning?

  • Quite the opposite. Nobody forces you to enter. If you don't like the rules, don't go in. There is no dictatorship. Anarchy is not the absence of rules, but of regulators. When an island is missing, for example, a carpenter, the system asks for one in an official announcement on social networks. People in the queue may or may not enter. If you don't know how to make furniture, you are going to be a very bad planner and you are going to lose money, and you are going to have to quit the game. Each profession is expected to achieve excellence. You develop your planning skills and earn money in the process. The smart contract does not allow a person to enter if he/she is not needed in any of the 1,000 islands.

  • I imagine that in an ecosystem like this, the education of individuals is very important.

  • Planning is especially difficult with the subject of education. In TAR there is no such thing as a college or a university, nor are there university degrees that distinguish people. Education is strictly one-to-one, that is, a strict “teacher-disciple” relationship. Newborns are "students" until they turn 18, and they do not have to work, although they can if they want to. The community takes care of their needs. They always have the same teacher, who accompanies them in all their growth, whatever profession they choose. For this reason, every time a child is born on an island, it is necessary to hire a teacher, who will surely come with his/her family, and then it will be necessary to take care not to exceed the number of inhabitants allowed and the size of the factories that produce the products that the community consumes. Each player thus shows his/her planning qualities, because the set of needs of the entire community must be considered, and not only that of a family unit.

-So the pig farmer calculates that it will take so many kilos of pork to feed the 3,458 inhabitants of the island during the month of April, and plans its production so that there is neither excess nor lack. And he must also plan the reproduction of the animals, feeding and caring for them.

  • Correct Doctor. And the property destined for the raising of pigs will have to have the suitable dimensions to reach the necessary production.

  • And how are the 1,000 islands distributed?

  • The islands are strategically distributed on the surface of the planet. There are 250 islands in the polar zones, 250 islands in the temperate zones, and 500 islands in the tropical zone. Each person can choose where to live according to their culture and preferred climate. So each island has its own ethos and attracts certain people while rejecting others. Travel between the islands is not prohibited, but neither is it encouraged. We know that in the past people wanted to travel a lot around the world. In TAR traveling is very expensive. In addition, there is a lot of work to do on the island to fulfill the assigned plans. An important part of the work to be planned is the labor time. Each person has to work 8 hours a day, the rest can be dedicated to leisure, music, theater, reading, crafts, painting, sculpture, dancing, you know, the things that are enjoyed. Among the professions of each island, artists of all kinds abound.

  • So TAR becomes something like a production planning simulator like the one Marx dreamed of?

  • If we speak in theoretical terms, TAR's ideology is more like the theories of Malatesta and Kropotkin, the famous theoretical anarchists. But, for people who are not yet in tune with hyper-reality, your argument could be a conclusion that relieves them of the need to apply critical thinking. But let me tell you Doctor that TAR is much more than a simulator for apprentice dictators. The feature that makes TAR so attractive is the possibility that each player has to design, build and patent one or more unique devices, and save them as their own on the game's blockchain, so that it becomes a very valuable object that cannot be copied, nor stolen. It is what is called an NFT. Do you remember that I mentioned to you yesterday that I was an NFT?

  • Oh yes, I remembered an acronym, but I had not registered it.

Mr. Pickerton stood up and began to proudly speak as he walked through the study.

  • A player, for example, can invent a method to extract a liquid solution from seawater that produces hours of electrical energy, he/she patents it with its formulas, plans and documents, and from then on he/she has its property to sell a service, a product, to rent it, sell the patent, or make money however he/she wants. In fact, over the past few years, various labs and industries have bought patents invented by TAR players and saved them as NFTs on its blockchain. Also, some governments bought entire systems of education and improvement of crops and food production, invented and registered as NFTs in TAR by players who did brilliant business with them.

  • I see, that is strongly attractive. But wait a minute, so you are a creation, a player's invention?

  • Yes, the NFTs can acquire any form, also the human form.

This was a great shock to the Doctor. She had never heard of such a thing. This guy was more than a crazy lunatic.

  • Now, if I don't misunderstand, you were invented in 2060, and then, how did you get here?

  • You, doctor, know how to ask questions. Your reputation is not an invention. Well, you see. Someone designed, patented, and built the time machine. The machine allows sending an NFT to the past so that it can interact with "real" people, even belonging to the world of hyper-reality. Time travel is very expensive, but my creator made a lot of money with TAR, and, being an advanced researcher of the psychology of NFTs-created-in-hyper-reality’s insanity, he sent me to interview you to get as much information as possible on the subject. You are still very famous in 2060.

At this point in the conversation, Dr. Brumenshaft no longer knew what was real and what was hyper-real.

-And I'll be curious, is it possible that your creator or some other millionaire of the TAR ecosystem could have sent another NFT to the past?

  • Yes, not only is it possible, but it has actually happened. I only know of two cases, but I know there are several more. The ones my creator made are two art-related NFTs, one was called Ludwig van Beethoven and was sent to the 17th century, and the other was called Alfred Hitchcock and was sent to the 20th century.

Dr. Brumenshaft felt that she was being teased. Shouldn't she kick this guy out of her study? After all, I deal with crazy people, not morons. But then, she understood why she had been feeling so disturbed since early morning. There was something, a special vibe about this guy.

  • Don't tell me that they also sent an NFT called Jesus Christ and another called Buddha.

  • I don't know anyone by those names.

  • And can you go back to your time?

  • My creator said yes. But I don't trust him very much. He is very cunning. He probably doesn't know if the machine runs in reverse. But it is something that we NFTs cannot solve. From tonight I must begin to transmit my interviews with you. But, anyway, it is not so bad here, is it? And I am in no rush.

  • And who is the creator of that TAR game?

  • Probably he/she is another NFT.

  • And tell me something, - said the Doctor somewhat disturbed, - is it possible that some TAR player-inventor could conceive a virus and send it back in time to generate a pandemic in the past?

  • Absolutely.

The Doctor looked at Mr. Pickerton with a look that thrilled herself. She had never looked at someone like that. She, the great professional speaker at various world forums on madness, for the first time was afraid of a patient.

Would she be reality or hyper-reality?

Was she entering another stage of consciousness from a brief conversation with an NFT sent from the future?

Had she spent her life trying to explain to madmen what reality was and now she was at a dead-end?

Damn blockchain and damn developers who do nothing but think about money!

Or not?

PS. The TAR game is an invention of mine and I dedicate myself to programming it in Solidity in my spare time. I am not a professional developer, just a hobbyist, but I know several computer languages and I have a lot of fun coding. I hope that TAR sees the light someday, although I, like Mr. Pickerton, am in no rush.

I have created the #tar channel on Discord, in my server MACROESTRATEGIA, with the rules of TAR at this stage of alpha minus. We can discuss there if you want and take perspective.
