Not exactly unexpected. Some sort of relief rally was inevitable after unprecedented downward trends. Despite sentiment becoming slightly more bullish, I have impression that many still expect major dive towards 12-15 K.
We'll see. Bitcoin never does what is expected of it.

Counting waves is very challenging. If 17,587 is the floor of Intermediate Wave C of Primary Wave 2, we are now in an early stage formation of Intermediate Wave 1 of Primary Wave 3. In EWP, part of the personality of Wave 1 is that many are convinced that the overall trend is down and that is why any rally will be taken as an opportunity to sell.
