It's not really bad for one to show one's selfish nature once in a while. Sometimes, situations demand for one to do it and it has to be done. If I know that pleasing someone at some point will be detrimental to me, I won't.
I've seen some people give all they have just to make other people around them happy and comfortable, yet those people aren't appreciative and still complain. So in that situation, the person should activate the selfish button.
