It's hard to accept something that's going to change (in a depreciating manner) a system one is striving under for a long time even though it gives chances for the masses to grow. It's when the sense of selflessness disappears and that's one reason why governments and even other individuals wish and make certain efforts to stopping them or having them under a system that would aid them to keep growing their wealth.
