“Private Messaging” is a word that we see casually thrown around these days. Even the most centralised of giants like Facebook and the likes who make a killing off selling OUR DATA also claim to be private messaging options. Casually taking the time to read the privacy policies that we many times unconsciously sign up for will leave you in awe as we basically give them access to all of our data and information. A quick glance across these contracts would show that the word ‘privacy’ is a ruse and though it is a necessary evil these apps are far from being private. It is easy to see that to the big corporations users data is a lucrative enterprise and that is why they will keep selling our data.

This has however given rise to a new wave of privacy apps right now that offer true privacy. Blockchain and decentralized networks might be the only solutions to privacy and data protection as we know it. This is because some of the core principles on which Blockchain is built are decentralization, privacy and the anonymity that the network provides. This is what private messaging apps should posses to be able to live up to the name they claim. The apps should be decentralized and not controlled by a central authority, provide maximum privacy for users and not give back end access to some people, and they should also offer users anonymity from prying eyes.

We are witnessing a rise in blockchain solutions dedicated to making privacy truly a reality. One of them is Status Privacy app; an app like the name says that dedicated to bringing true privacy to its users. Status comes with inbuilt privacy as users have to choose a three-word identity phrase to keep their identity hidden.

The three word names are given to protect users privacy, and they can interact as they want without fear of being doxxed. Status also comes with an inbuilt wallet that allows users to store all their ERC-20 tokens. It’s one of the coolest features of Status to me; I can throw some crypto there and forget it which is the perfect form of hodling.

Another cool feature that Status comes with is their in-app browser that allows users to access Web 3 DApps. All the big name apps like MetaMask, Trust Wallet and the likes come with in-app browsers and Status is no exception. It is still very much undervalued project right now, it is one whose team is constantly working to innovate and build to be better, and I don't think Status will stay undervalued for much longer. I think the Status Network is one that will grow into a pretty big ecosystem and you should be a part of that growth.
