Two weeks ago we asked the Liotes community to give us ideas for future missions and we got some amazing answers. Several people were asking questions related to upvotes and we would like to take this subject for today's mission.
How do you use your upvotes on Hive ?
Every person on Hive has 10 full upvotes per day to allocate a part of the reward pool according to their stake. We wonder how you use these upvotes? Do you vote manually? Do you give full upvotes? Do you vote on comments? Who do you give the votes to ?... Feel free to tell us more about how you use your upvotes!

I'm voting manually and usually only posts since my HP isn't that high yet(read that votes under 0.02 will become dust). I don't give full upvotes since I'm voting quite a lot daily, also I give 50% more to people who I'm following and who are following me. :)

I have also set few fanbase votes in hive.vote.It is a combination of manual and curation trails by @bradleyarrow, @liotes.voter, @ctpsb and @indiaunited with Upvote Mana threshold to 75%.
Irrespective of that i do give manual votes to interesting posts.
I also do give manual votes to the giveaway posts i participate.
i also give votes to some of the comments on my posts.
100% vote is very rare. More unwillingly when the vote button behaves badly :-)
I don't like to change the vote percentage, once i have given them.

I tend to use my upvotes just as I regularly would in a web2 space: as a "reward" (which in this case could not be more literal) for posts that I find useful, or that I like, or give me a good time. I tend to do 100% upvote, but I am also into a few Curation Trails that automatically stops at a certain RC level so I don't ran out of it.
Basically speaking, when I have enough time to be around, I do my voting manually, when I'm not around, I just "turn on" the curation trail... that's basically how I manage it.

I'm doing all voting Manually since start and as of now my voting value is still less than $0.01 so after hardfork 26 it doesn't become dust that's why most of the time when I see blog of someone I know or randomly after reading it's my habit of giving a full 100% vote just like I'm dropping a heart on twitter or Instagram.
It has the sense to upvote with 100% if you have low HP... When you build it up, then you can lower %... ;)

A combination of everything.
Some curation trails (Liotes, Lmac, Foodies) and the rest manual, 50-100% as much as I can manage per day...I'm thinking about delegating more ...
On average I'm at 70% HP, because I've also delegated about 30% of my HP..
I follow the liotes.voter curation trail because I almost don't manage to vote enough not to reach 100% voting power. Like that the community profits when I power up more Hive :-)

I missed this originally so I am picking it up through listnerds a few days late.
I vote 100% on most anything I read. I also upvote comments. My .004 doesn't go very far but I spread it around. I also have hive voter following curation of a couple of people that I allow to vote any time my % is above 90%. Ie If I am not keeping up it will follow the votes of another person. But mostly I keep my vote percentage in the 80% range.

I was voting manually but have recently started to use hive voter more to follow some curation trails to spread votes amongst the community. I also added a few fans to some people who I like to support.
I do something similar... Have hive.vote for "just in case", but upvote manually also...

I vote manually for the absolute majority of the time. I wrote on posts and comments alike. If you comment on one of my posts or comments the ods are very good your getting an upvote.
I'm doing the same as you... Everyone who comments on my posts receives an upvote! I appreciate my readers and I like to show my appreciation through replies and upvotes!

Well I do curate manually, but I have also joined a few curation trails. After all, I only have so much time to do manual curation day in and day out. Comments on my posts are also given votes :)

Following curation trails is a good way to use the most from your HivePower... I'm doing the same, keeping trails over 93-95%, just in case... But, when I have time, I do almost all upvoting manually...

My voting habits are kind of simple (I'm a bit of a socialist in my voting habits :), as I rarely vote with different weights).
I vote for posts I read and I like (and that are not older than 24h) with 30%. Rarely with a higher weight.
I vote for comments on my posts (and sometimes on other comments) with a 15% weight. Slightly different if I want to feature one of the comments (or in a different order, because voting order decides the order of comments if you vote with the same weight). A (much) higher weight if the comment needs proper highlighting (like a comment from an owner/dev/highly valuable information shared).
I also follow a few curation trails for passive voting. Often they are at a lower weight, but the weight is controlled by the curators. If they vote with a low weight because they have a high HP under management, they can vote with something like 5%. If my vote is 30% or 50% or whatever from theirs, that means an insignificant vote weight from me.
I'm a bit similar. I vote on posts with 50% and on comments with 10% lol
Yeah, maybe I should adjust that too as my HP grew. It's definitely harder to write a full post and the vote should reflect that. I only did it with 30% because at 50% and with 15% on comments I often depleted my votes for the day too soon. But I will start using a lower weight on comments and a higher one on posts.

I vote manually, the post that usually comes from my feeds, from dreemport, now from listnerd or from the community. But I only occasionally vote on full upvote weight.
I also hardly vote on comment, but I am trying to send them tip tokens, if they are still available.
It's hard to upvote comments when you have low HivePower, but if not, I would recommend doing it... Especially upvoting people who comment on your posts... They dedicated their time to reading your post, at least we can do is to upvote them... ;)
I really wish that I can do that, at least in the future, since my Hp is still quite small, because less than 30% will be very small, and in the end it will hinder me from curating the other post.

I pick one or two project that I like and I join their curation trail. this usually consume 10-12% of my voting mana. Then I will upvote manually on the posts that the authors I like or know, or if the topics are interesting.
recently I rarely give full power 100% upvote. Usually I set the % based on how much it will be valued, based on the remaining voting mana too.
I also like to split my upvotes so that I can give more of them every day :-)

I follow Liotes in my voting plus I vote manually. At first I was on voting manually but I was so inconsistent with the time that I would cast my vote that my voting power would get to 100% for a while then I would vote like crazy to get it back down. I vote around 70% so that I can give out more votes and I do vote on comments.

Most of my HP is delegated to @ecency and @leo.voter . I keep a little to manually dish out 100% votes on people I follow or just voting on every posted workout in the EXHAUST community.
It's a good combination to delegate some hive power out and keep voting manually.

I vote manually and try to maintain a voting power between 80% and 90%. I vote above all what interests me, contests in which I participate and the posts that I comment on. I also do retweets sometimes.
I don't usually vote on the comments of my posts, although I should, but I do drop tips.
The Voting power between 80% and 90% is the perfect way to avoid that idle 100%... It's enough low that can "last" for 7-8 hours of sleep... :)

I vote manually, mostly on a daily basis. I have a list of readers that I follow so I would usually vote within this list if I find nice posts, mostly 50% or 100%. I also make an effort to go through the comments on my posts and give upvotes to those who commented something meaningful. :)
When I began to do that, my number of followers started to go up... I still don't have thousands of them, but it is slowly, organically growing, thanks to comment upvotes!

I vote manually and I tend to just go through my feed as I go. I tend to also vote on the posts that I comment on (including some giveaways). As for comments on my post, I do upvote them (when under LEO tag) because I prefer to save my VP on the LeoFinance stuff.

I vote manually (except for a few whom I included on my fanbase list), sometimes I give full upvotes to a post and most times at different percentages. There are also times when I upvote comments on my posts especially when I don't have much time to read other people's articles.

Before I vote 100% all the time I think more than 10x per day. As a result, my voting bar could hardly keep up to 80%. Someone advised me to change my vote % to 50%. I followed him. But I still didn't have any systematic plan for voting. I think four days ago when the HP delegation was removed, my voting bar sunk to 3% and that is why until now I refrained from voting. Once I reach 95% in voting power, I will start upvoting again.
Usually, I distribute my vote to different tribes including CENT, SME, SPT, CTP, and LEO around three to five votes per tribe. However, I learned my lesson. I don't want to repeat the same mistake again and that is why this time once I reach 95%, I will monitor my upvotes. I will try to maintain that 80% voting power.

A good strategy is to vote until you reach like 85% voting power and then let the voting power recuperate. I always try to keep it between 99 and 85%.

Well it's your vote value is the result of vote value X vote weight X voting power. So the lower your voting power, the less value it gives.

All my votes are manual, at the moment due to the amount of votes I give daily, my votes to publications are 25% and 7% for comments, trying that while I sleep my power is recharged to 100%.

I will upvote 100% on each post I read. I don't do a whole lot on HIVE so I don't have enough resource credits to upvote on other peoples comments. I guess that is something I need to work on is getting more RC or resource credits.

I vote manually every day. I've set my voting percentage at 75% so I can vote for a few more people without taking it down too fast. I usually vote right away in the morning to take my percentage down just under 90% and then I'll vote again after I get home from work and take the percentage back below 90% again overnight. I try and keep the percentage always hovering around that 90% mark as much as possible.
Once I start posting again, I'll probably move my voting percentage down a little more because I try to vote for everyone who comments on my posts as well so I tend to put out a lot more votes on those days.

It looks that many people like that 90% magic number, including myself... I'm not comfortable when my VP goes under that number, but also, I don't like to see it over 97% :)
Yeah, there's nothing worse than refreshing your browser and seeing that percentage at 100%. Feels like you're just throwing money away. lol I mean it's literally fractions of a penny in most cases but it still feels like a waste. Right now, I have no problem taking my power down to about 85%-87% just because I'd rather take it a little lower and never see it at 100% vs not taking it low enough and then getting busy or forgetting about it and having it fill all the way up. That still happens occasionally but by getting it to that level it's amazing how many times I've suddenly remembered and find myself at 98-99 and not all the way back up. I feel like I've made way more taking it a little lower and rarely hitting 100 vs keeping it hovering around 90-92% and having it sit for an hour or two completely charged.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing too... Trying to evenly distribute my upvotes, for comments around 15%, and for posts over 40%, depending on the number of posts that I read and check...
