Ive always had a fascination with gold and precious metals but frankly, could never justify spending money on it.
I got married 2 years ago, legally, but the actual church wedding is going to be in May of this year due to COVID. I didnt buy any wedding bands until this month.
Im the type of person that needs to understand exactly the thing that im buying so I went around researching jewelry a bit before making the purchase.
How much of actual gold value is in the price of a 14k-18k jewelry piece. How much of the non gold value goes on the artisan, how much on the shop rent, how much on the sales clerk, tax, etc. It was a lot.
So I started looking at Mene. Something Ive seen a few accounts on Hive have been promoting. @goldmatters makes frequent videos about it. I watched a ton of them before buying my rings.
In the cheapest place I can buy 18k rings in Croatia online (No one sells 24k), only about 36% of the price of the ring is actual Gold value. Even if you consider that you pay tax for importing Mene rings from the USA into EU you get around 55%-58% gold value in the rings, after tax, which is great.
If you buy jewelry in a physical store your gold value % in the jewelry price could drop as low as 15-20%
So yeah, why lose money? And honestly, 24k is simply much more special.
Once I did my research, calculations, I went and picked up these two bands for about 2400 USD last month. Currently they are being crafted, hoping they will ship inside a week.
As much as I am excited in receiving them and the deal I got, I have to mention something not so great about using Mene. I had a terrible experience with their website and customer service.
First they didnt accept Debit cards and no where does it say that, then none of their other purchase options worked, Paypal didnt work, bank deposit didnt even work.
They couldnt figure out whats wrong and I had to talk to my bank 5 times, see if it was them. After I wasted literally 4-5 hours over a number of days, they managed to figure out how I can make the payment.
I made the payment via bank deposit and 5 days later, after I made the 2400 USD payment they contact me that im short $20 USD because of banking fees and I have to pay them or they wont ship the rings. 😡
Just to send them the 20 USD id have to spend another 60 USD on banking fees so I asked if they would take crypto since thats an existing option there. Even that they couldnt do.
I flipped out at them for wasting so much of my time and finally, probably some senior employee after seeing the angry email, decided to forgive the 20 USD.
Anyways... lol
Ill do another post with photos once I get the rings and I would recommend you buying them from Mene, simply due to the value proposition, if not the customer service. lol
