Marketing Update 21 //Shows, Influencers, stuff//

in LeoFinance3 years ago (edited)

Just wanted to do a quick update on some stuff im working on. Its been a busy busy week.

Podcasts:

A few days ago I made this tweet with some popular podcasts. Most of you are familiar with these names. WendyO has become really popular these last few months. Charlie Shrem is a crypto OG with a super interesting podcast called "Untold Stories". Arcane Bear is another popular personality. Dont forget to follow these guys and give them some love!

Just wanted to say that, with a little bit of help, I managed to get all these 3 for Dan to talk Hive and Tokenized communities (Bitboy eludes me😔). Arcane Bear has been filmed already a week ago and should be live any day now. As it stands now Wendy should happen in the coming week or two, Dan and Matt will be on Charlie Shrems show on September 30th.

Just want to say that all these guys and their teams have been very nice, have shown genuine interest and have been super welcoming to what we want to talk about. Some crypto personalities truly are interested in the solutions, like Hive, the crypto space has to offer!

These guys have a collective audience of millions. Its finally happening that Hive is getting the attention it deserves!

Influencers:

A lot of movement in that area as well.

  • Political compass posted another image. It got around 7000 likes and 70 000 impressions.

We will be doing 3 more of these but a bit of a different messaging.

  • Ashni will have her 10 min video about Hive up soon. Today i went through it and made changes. To get the idea on what working on things like this looks like let me share the notes for 1 video. Pitching Hive is no easy feat. Sometimes you even find yourself having to explain Hive to yourself in a way a layman would understand it.

Snimka zaslona (295).jpg

  • Stefano has also created an article, a IG post, and a video about Hive that will be posted soon. I adjusted that as well. (Its in #Italian)

  • Elischa will have something up soon as well. He was busy last few weeks.

  • What else? Uhm. Still waiting on the Hive informational video to be finished. That will also probably need some adjustments so i dont expect it to be live at least 2 weeks from now. We will put a few thousand USD into promoting it with some crypto influencers. Get as many views as we can. Im feeling excited for it since we never really had anything similar made for Hive.

  • Ive found a "fact IG creator" I think will be good for us to share some cool stuff about Hive. Ill have something up there in a few days hopefully once I catch the time to think up the content.

  • Ive opened contact with a few other IG influencers that deal with crypto. Will share once I have more info.

  • Id say at this point we have influencers with an audience of 2 million+ not counting the podcasts that will create content about Hive. They still have to deliver about 90% of agreed upon content. Working with people isnt easy. They all have their schedules, different work rates, their own problems to deal with. Patience is a virtue.

  • Still looking for a few more influencers. Still looking for more podcasts. Digging for youtubers and content creators is something I could use help with.
Simply finding them and sending me their contacts would help. Id take care of pitching Hive, payments, contracts etc.

I know its "busy work" no one wants to do but if you appreciate my contribution, I could use the help. It would save me a lot of time.

Lex Freidman might want to talk to Dan and Matt..

Lex would be incredible.

I second that. I know not everyone is into 5-hour podcasts, but I actually do enjoy his shows.

I Love LONGFORM content haha!! Taskmaster and Jon G had to cut their podcast from 2hours once a week to 1hour twice a week.. haha I was listening to an old episode expecting it to end at the 1 hour mark haha

This would be incredible. Lex has talked to the lead devs of Cardano, Algorand and many other cryptocurrency enthusiasts. I wholeheartedly support efforts in getting Lex to talk about HIVE.

Lex Freidman

Can you tell me a few basic things about him from a viewers perspective. He has a large channel. If he talks with big names with established reputations in the mainstream it will probably be really tough to get him.

@hivecoffee A few basic things about lex, from a viewers perspective: Lex is vary calm, cool, and collected. He enjoys viewing things both from intellectual and spiritual perspective. He seems to be open to talking to many different types of folks, and he makes it a point to get all of his advertising promotions in the first few minutes of the show, and makes a point to not interrupt the interview, and people's trains of thought.
He is a really respectful host, and though it might be a long road getting Dan, and Matt onto his podcast, I believe if we start now.. it is not a question of IF, but Wen..

We need to "attack" his comment section.

Open minded guy.

Watched most of his podcasts and he's the one who would help us reach the audience. The only thing I'm not sure of is if he has some contract with YouTube or something similar

Majority of the 'big names' outside of the realm of crypto are fucking impossible to get a hold of. Especially those in entertainment, they receive countless requests from randoms and not-so randoms, constantly (constantly!). Much of it gets ignored. The icebreaker needs to be solid. It could be months before there's an open window. Could be a month before you get a response. Constantly knocking is unwise while waiting. Best to work from a long list that's kept quiet until one finally answers. You'll usually get a representative. From there, strictly business. Expect a no. Accept the no. Don't try to sweeten the deal. They've heard it all. Follow up with new developments down the road but make sure to ask for an easier means of communication first, "In the event you change your mind."

And sometimes it's easy. So don't be afraid to knock.

Majority of the 'big names' outside of the realm of crypto are fucking impossible to get a hold of

Yeah, exactly.

Oh there have been plenty of Noes. You see the names I get but you dont see how many emails were sent out. For 1 yes theres 10-20 noes or ignores.

Sometimes you spend hours digging for eligible targets and even if you find 10 of them after 2-3 hours of digging all 10 might be duds and you wasted your time. Happened a few times.
Its the nature of the work.

I look for gigs sometimes. They don't come to you. You have to go to them. One in twenty is about right. And that's just getting a foot in the door.

I see one comment here about flash mobbing the comment sections. I don't think that'll work. Some of these folks get hundreds of comments hourly and a mob would just fade off and appear like a spam bot is working overtime.

Comment spam can come off aggressive and be counterproductive..

I watch him too, he is really into cryptocurrency recently, talked to few big figures, well aware of Web 2.0 problems and need for decentralized social media.

He talks mostly with more recognized (at least in their fields) people of science, business and sport (martial arts mostly) I bet it's worth trying to set talk with Dan.

Ill give it a shot. Just wanted to know what angle to take. Not promising anything.
A lot of people have been throwing out big names that arent crypto specific in topics covered. We still have to work on our brand and even Dans brand to be able to get on big shows. That takes time and effort since we are a fairly small project in comparison to others.

It would be awesome to get Tom MacDonald here. I’ve messaged him before with no luck. He has a very strong and loyal following dubbed the hangover gang. He’s a rapper but totally against the main stream. If he would just post his vids on to 3speak as well as being able to continue doing what he’s doing in YT, it’d be a win win. I already have his user name saved for him when he joins :)

Thanks for the update!

Can we have more people from Hive included in the interviews ... not that the curent ones are not ok :) .... just to have wider range ... core devs, app devs, etc ...

Just like you want to develop the Hive brand with these guest spots you also want to have individuals with their own brands. People that are recognizable by the wider community.
This also adds to their, call it, "social resume". Im collecting all these interviews and storing them so when i contact a big name I can point to these interviews for Dan and say:

Look, here is what he talks about. Here is how he presents himself.

If I start spreading around guest spots to more people Im wasting an opportunity there. Its like restarting a character from lvl 1 every time a different person goes on a show.🙂
Now there can opportunities for topics that arent covered by Dan like Splinterlands on gaming podcasts but unfortunately Aggroed and Matt havent really shown interest in working with me and they have their own teams. Plenty of funds and a bigger team.

Might include blocktrades at least

I talked to him and recommended it. Id say hes lukewarm on that idea. Having him would be good, but I dont want to pressure anyone.

Great job, I think working with influencers is the most promising and effective ad money spent, maybe Elischa could also do a @rabona promo (soccer game on hive).

@rabona to play and @sportstalksocial to talk about football in general!

Second this :-)

great idea :-)

Great work!! Jordan Peterson would be a good one, has a youtube channel. It's a psychologist that does podcast and is pro free speech and independent thinking. You probably know him. He isn't much into crypto though.

We could have too GaryVee (especially for the tokenized communities thing) but i don't know if it's too much for us. I'm sure you also know him.

Also Andreas Antonopolous (it's known as aantonop for short). I heard sometime ago that he mentioned us in a video. Don't know which one though. So we are in it's radar. It's pro crypto, one of the early ones, so it's pro independent thinking and free speech, especially talks bitcoin and ethereum though. So don't know if he would be willing to talk hive. Has a youtube channel.

Found the video I was talking about:

At minute 10:18

He does have an account, at least if he still retains the keys. https://peakd.com/impersonators/@aantonop/the-real-aantonop

Oh wow, didn't know about this. So yeah he definitely knows about us. Could be worth approaching him, small audience though.

I had some cominication with him on twitter, he was not interested at the time ... def knows hive though

Also Raoul Paul & Real Vision Finance. They mentioned the topic of tokenized communities.

Raoul Pal i tried on email, on his site, talking to his PR guy, on Linked in. Only silence.

We would need someone that knows him to recommend us.

I love Jordan Peterson but Jordan is huge. Id say, way out of our league. I tried a few of these big names. Its mostly ignored.

GaryVee... lol. I have to pass and we probably couldnt get him anyway.
I hate those types of egomaniacal gurus that love to hear themselves talk. Hes a Jerry but with an attitude.
He has a punchable face though.😁

Yeah Andreas I can try. Again, youre picking up big names. Big names are easy to find, theyre in front of our face. :)
Its the smaller tech youtube channels, smaller podcasts up to 50k subs, etc. that id need help finding.

Yeah I know i did big ones haha. I don't follow small ones usually. Will put some names if I find smaller ones.

Would be great to get some presence on UpOnly, a crypto show that has guests from a variety of projects and professions related to crypto. They interview traders, analysts, and project creators.

Thats a good recommendation. I might have already contacted them but ill check.

absolutely fantastic, keep it up!

to the moon! IMO if we get the firsts crypto" mainstream" influencer other will join the game too for free. It only must be easy to understand and to share. Less technical and more for the average copy and past dude :)

Sweet! the timing works perfectly for all the Splinterlands rush.

If you could get Bitboy Crypto, you could get everyone on that list.

Sibuk tapi menghasilkan. Ini adalah pelajaran yang bagus..

I wanted to ask how the marketing strategy is decided? When using influencers, I suppose they are getting paid to promote Hive. Is there any analysis about the results? I mean how much referrals sent a particular influencer, ic they registered, continued to use the platform and their quality in general?

Are there any other ways you are trying to promote Hive? For example, Telegram, or search engine optimization for bringing more people organically from Google? Finally, how one becomes member of the marketing team? Thanks...
