In Japan they are always everyday things. Several earthquakes go off everyday in this country. Usually not bigger than 3 or 4, though. Yesterday's was of note just because it was right in Tokyo, so many of my friends were talking about it a lot.
I just saw it was 4.8 magnitude. Japan is right on a tectonic plate and underground volcanos.
Yep. 4 plates come together here. Fun place for quakes
