This was high tech cell phone. It was like $1,000 and cost about a dollar (or more) per minute. Think about that for a second.
And it was just talk
So fun to schlep that around. My ex father-in-law was a doctor. He had one of those. It came in a faux leather case with a shoulder strap.
That was a major update from the ones before that had the huge battery pack. People put the battery in the trunk of the car.

Most do not realize how far we have come until you look at where things were.
Imagine having to carry around a pager... I had to while working in a few hospitals before smart phones came out. I hated those dumb things!...
Yeah I can. I am a fossil so I remember them.
What was worse, had to go to a payphone to make the calls.
that's the power of technology, very soon a new gadget would be produced and the recent ones we have today would be outdated..
When you consider that, it is true. That is one advantage of being old, I see the deflationary nature of #technology and how it changed over time.
