RE: Daily Crypto Markets Live Blog: Gaming Key To Crypto Adoption (09/27/21)

There are only 2 valid reasons not to accept someone's money for any transaction:

  1. It's illegal (thanks to legal tender laws);
  2. Even if legal, the infrastructure may not be present for handling that money.

I may be willing to accept payment in EUR, CHF, and JPY, but it my payment system isn't configured to handle it than it doesn't make sense for me. If someone offered me cash payment in EUR, CHF, or JPY, it would take a long time for me to exchange those to my local currency, USD.

On the flip side, I may want to pay for some computer equipment at a brick and mortar store using platinum coins. As much as they would love to accept the platinum coins for their own reasons, the store itself couldn't handle payment in platinum coins.

I agree with 2nd. I mean there are mountain regions where internet is impossible so yeah cash does have role to play.

Yes, that's very true. I remember taking a trip to the Peruvian jungles and in some places, they were very specific about the kind of currency they accepted. Not even the US dollar was accepted there.
