I think it made sense. He was a great Padre.

Plus I think the first to go in as one (Gwynn later joined him).

Tony Gwynn should have been the first Padre inducted into the Hall of Fame. He personified that team in its heyday.

BTW-- did Gil Hodges finally get inducted in recent years? I thought I saw news that it finally happened.

Yes he was put in last year. His widow got to see it. She dies this past fall I believe a few months after he was put in.

Gwynn loved the 5.5 hole.

At least Mrs. Hodges lives long enough to see her husband honored. That counts for something.

Next up: Shoeless Joe Jackson. he was given a "lifetime" ban, and he's been dead for decades. It will be the same for Pete Rose.

A lifetime ban for something claimed he was innocent of until he died which is embraced by MLB these days and the owners likely get millions from the gaming companies.

Innocent or not, the ban was for life; his life had expired-- he's dead. He can't pay any more 4 his act that that. Point has been made, & he paid dearly 4 it. Pete Rose will be the same, although he prefers not being in BBHOF 4 $ reasons.
