For those who are puzzled and overwhelmed by crypo forks, I want to share my view on how I pick my fork.
Forks are beautiful. If we could fork Earth, we would have much less lively and fruitless debates and would all live in the world that we deserve, for better or worse. The Dems would have their planet, and the GOP would have theirs. Hey, most social media are US-centric, so I am using this picture. As a Swiss citizen, I would say: the SVP (a party that believes in simple solutions to complex problems) would have their world, and the SP (a party that believes in egalitarianism, to everyone's needs from everyone's abilities) would have theirs.
I chose BTC over BCH and BSV right away based on two pictures: (a) the blockchain is not the holy grail. It is the toxic waste that we need to accept to allow peer-to-peer transactions. Hence I chose the chain with the least waste: BTC.
Hive and Steem? If it were not for decentralization and censorship-resistance, I would still post on Facebook. So Hive was the logical choice.
One could argue that keeping all fork coins is the perfect hedge. I am okay with that; it is a valid strategy. However, I don't want to over-complicate my (already complicated) life and always sell the forks for my favorite.

Interesting read. I like the philosophy. So am I understanding this right. You're selling your Steem and going "all in" with Hive?

I am selling all my Steem asap. Tbh (and as posted earlier) I think DPOS is very political. I don't mean this in a bad or disrespectful way - but in the end your assets are at the mercy of the opinion of others. Therefore while I do keep my Hive (because it is cool) I store most of my assets in BTC. Do you know the term B2B (of course, you do)? It once meant "business to business". Then it meant "Back to Bangalore" after the internet bubble burst. I now use it now for "Back to Bitcoin" as an acronym for making excursions into alts, just to eventually (re-)discover that Bitcoin (BTC that is) is king.

Forks are a pretty unique opportunity that puts ideas, code, belief, confidence, against one another and I feel it a real free-market ideal, letting the people decide where to put their value not just in money but in time and effort (which eventually) can be stored as money.
Unfortunately, I missed out on the BTC fork, lol the only forked coin I got was I think Litecoin cash which is worth nothing lol
I have long forgotten spending time on Facebook when I can spend time on hive and get rewarded for my time here on hive compare to other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and many more
