The spot-price of electricity in Finland has been negative since 3 pm and will be until midnight.
While the price being negative for brief periods of time, particularly if it winds heavily, is nothing new, this time the price of electricity is very steeply negative, -50 cents per kWh. Transmission is paid for separately and it costs something to the tune of 2 cents per kWh and the power companies charge a small marginal, which is 0.25 cents per kWh in our case.
We washed a lot of laundry today and I just had a sauna.
The extraordinarily low price of electricity was caused by the Norwegian company Kinect Energy having apparently made a fat finger type of error in offering electricity. The mistake cost the company tens of millions of euros.

Heat your house with a blow dryer and toaster. Run an experiment with the microwave and have a disco party!
My real neglect was not mining crypto. With the price of electricity being like this, even mining with a CPU would've made sense.
