In sweden its not allowed to pay donors money.

Law does not allow it here too. But that comes down to enforcement. Unless we address generational poverty we can't address this issue. SDG 1 & SDG 2 talks about NO POVERTY and ZERO HUNGER respectively

How does it get to that point that the only thing left to do to survive is your blood?

I can donate blood to save someone's life voluntarily but not to do that to put food on the table.

I have seen those instances in my ditrict in early 2000s. But yes such instandes do not prevail now.
