I bought my very first NFT - And now I'm addicted & obsessed!

in LeoFinance4 years ago

I'm pretty sure that most of us can agree that compared to only a few months ago, NFTs are all the rage these days. We've come quite a far way since the minting of the first crypto kitty... And even some of those were sold for outrageous amounts. We've entered a completely new era of digitalizing just about anything, from art to music, to contracts, or all in one. The world is changing rapidly.
I've been trying to fight it for a while but eventually even someone like me will succumb to the pure pressure that is NFT. So what did I get myself into? Let's have a look!

It's not the first NFT I own. I won one some time ago in a Decentraland contest. But this is the first one I actually bought. It didn't come cheap but I know a good buy when I see one so I bit the bullet and went for it.
Without further ado, I'd like to introduce to you my beautiful Golden Bull by SuperFarm (EllioTrades).

Meet the Golden Bull!

Isn't he a beauty?

I've been a follower of EllioTrades on YouTube for a while now. He's among my top three YouTube crypto guys, and I always tend to listen very closely to what he has to say, and nine out of ten times he's spot on. So when this guy told us about his own project in the world of NFT's, you can bet your a$£ that I was listening even closer!
There was going to be an NFT sale, as well as whitelisting to buy the new SUPER tokens at bottom prices. I signed up for both. Unfortunately, I didn't get into the token sale but somehow managed to be one of the few chosen ones for an NFT.
And this was pure luck I have to say, because I didn't realize that we could bid on more than one NFT on OpenSea to improve our chances. I discovered this literally in the last 5 minutes. So with the system crashing every few seconds or so, because there were so many people trying their luck on OpenSea, it was almost a miracle I managed to get about 9 bids in, resulting in exactly the one I hoped to get: this amazing Golden Bull.

But that's not all!

People who managed to get (well, buy, because this baby set me back for 0.25 ETH) one of these NFTs, are also eligible for the SUPER airdrop which will slowly trickle in within the next few months, starting with 10% at the end of this month. Those with the uncommon NFTs like mine, were eligible for 1,500 airdropped tokens, and with a price of $1.92 at the moment of writing this, that's not bad at all for the investment I made.

Not only that, but right away after the NFTs were all sold out, people started bidding on those that were bought. The highest offer I got was more than 2 ETH.
NICE!!! Now, I have to say that I was very tempted to sell but decided I would keep it because I really like to see what this project will bring once it's launched. Meanwhile I managed to scoop up some of the SUPER tokens after the sale, for a great price, so now it will also be possible to farm more NFTs.
To me, that's a win-win-win situation. Exciting times!!!

It gets way crazier

If you thought that this is exciting, then the news that just one piece of digital art just sold for a measly $69 million just the other day. And of course, we can't forget Elon Musk's NFT song version, that sold for over $60 million.
What's happening guys? I thought we were in the middle of a crisis?!? But apparently some people still have money enough to burn.
Not here to judge. I just think all that money could be spent differently, that's all...

My new obsession

Anyway, so since I tasted my very first taste of the NFT craze, I've been looking at other NFTs, other NFT projects, etc. I just can't get enough of it!
It's not just about digital art, or songs. I believe it opens up a complete new world to many. Just when we thought the world of crypto couldn't get any more exciting, there we have it.

Thank you for reading!

It's really great, and I'm sure in time its value will be higher.

That's what I'm hoping for :) But till then, I just love to see what the SuperFarm platform will bring.
Exciting times in crypto space!

Cool, I'm going to take a look at that platform.

It's launching end of this month. But if you want to learn more about it, you can find more info on @superfarm on Twitter or under Elliotrades. :)

Thank you very much for the information @misslasvegas

You're very welcome! I'm just getting started in the NFT world hehe. But hopefully I'll be able to write more about it soon!

Hey, long time no see! That is pretty cool that you are getting into the NFT game! I own quite a fair number of them over on the WAX side of things. I really wish people would realize they don't need to pay the insane gas fees over on ETH and make WAX explode with the potential that it has. You need to get an account over there if you don't already have one and you are into NFTs! This looks like a pretty darn cool NFT for your first purchase. Congrats again!

Hey @bozz!!! How are you? Yeah, I've been pre-occupied a bit too much these last few months. And planning to move. But I am going to try and write & post a bit more the coming time because there's still no place like Hive :)

Yeah, I'll have to check out WAX. I haven't yet but will now. My issue is that I'll be looking into one thing, then end up on coingecko for something else, and before I know it I'll be knee deep into coins and tokens I'd never heard off before and it'll be like 3 am. It's a full time job!
Yeah, the gas fees can be a bit steep. Now with this one it wasn't too bad. I only had to wrap Eth in Uniswap which is a minor fee, and the transfer then wasn't more than around $15.
However, the airdrop of the tokens alone would be well worth it I think. By the end of this month I'll get 10%, and with the price of SUPER at the moment, I'll almost have made my money back already. Everything else will be pure profit (if I plan to sell). So it's definitely one of my most lucrative investments to date.

But yeah, I am definitely exploring more NFT options. I recently bought a bunch of Minty.art tokens because I think they're on to something there. It's a relatively unknown project as of yet but I believe it has great potential once they start some marketing on that.

Nice to talk to you again! Hopefully we'll cross paths more in the coming time!

For sure, I was really excited when I saw your handle come across my feed! WAX has some strategic partnerships and some games that I think are going to bring them to the forefront of NFTs in the future. I think four of the top NFT games are all on the WAx blockchain and the transaction times are second to none. It is built on EOSIO so think all the benefits of Hive with none of the headaches if ETH! I will have to dig into the projects you mention. I am kond of an NFT whore at this point !

So nice to see people really into NFTs, not just random anonymus billionaires haha. I'm just getting started into selling NFT art and I still wonder how people or artwork get so "viral" to achive such huge numbers haha There's so much to learn!

I'd like to be a random anonymous billionaire haha. Yes, there's still a lot to learn for everyone, even the 'experts'. Can you imagine where we'll be with this in 10 years? Where are you selling your art? I'd love to have a look! Nice to meet you :)

Well, that makes two of us with the same wish 😂 I can imagine but can not at the same time haha

I started a Hive account as sole artist @williamfuenmayor and I'm listing my art in OpenSea and would be very glad if you check it out https://opensea.io/accounts/WilliamFuenmayor

Nice to meet you too. Thank you!!!

That's a beautiful one! Now I am curious how it went after a year :)

Oooh, nice buy!

I'm looking at creating some NFTs with my daughter's artwork. She's so creative 😁

It is very cool looking. Sounds like you did a good job doing your research and went into the buying process with your eyes wide open. The first NFT I ever bought was a card in Splinterlands with the help of @jongolson. He guided me and I made the purchase. Now I have been renting it out. I don't play the game I was interested in the investment end of it. One thing that annoys me is seeing and hearing people trash talk crypto and nfts without ever taking the time to learn about them and do some of their own research.

Great acquisition. Everyone needs to be lucky every now and then. Thanks for sharing.
