Heavy is the head that wears the crown
UST is loosing its peg and crypto Twitter is loosing their shit! Legendary Do Kwon steps in to save the day by deploying more capital and I’m here liiike, what the heck is really going on!
There are rumors of a coordinated attack on UST as payback for Do Kwon starting a stable coin war on ETH saying he would kill DAI. Catch up on that in this post. Really, catch up first.
FUDers are capitalizing on this market action and pushing so hard for people to sell their LUNA, further depegging UST, there are talks about a particular whale constantly dumping UST as well? And everyone is going bananas.

......I actually like that UST is being tested, perhaps to its limit, I like that it is going through this very tough time, this is how we know how efficient and resilient what we want to make our stable coin representative in the decentralized economy should look like. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Technically, when UST goes below 1$, say $0.93, anyone can buy UST for $0.93, mint 1$ LUNA on terra station by burning that UST. Sell the 1$ LUNA and pocket $0.07. However, if more people do this and sell their LUNA for other currencies, then there will be downward pressure on LUNA as we are currently seeing resulting in more people dumping LUNA.
Since UST is minted by burning LUNA, demand in LUNA helps keep the UST stable. Otherwise UST looses its peg. So for UST to maintain its peg, there must be constant demand of LUNA. At the moment the most use case for LUNA is staking it for 10% apr, the apr is garnered from transaction fees on terra.
Certainly, LUNA needs much more users transacting on Terra and more use cases. However, I don’t think it’s cool that someone would need to step in to save a supposed decentralized stable coin even in the face of a coordinated attack. It’s decentralized and algorithmic for a reason.
You don’t just come in to “deploy more capital” to prop the peg. Code it! Smart contract it into your blockchain and make it automatic, create a reserve that feeds itself. Bot it. But don’t randomly step in to save the day as an entity.
Like HBD as the perfect example, if HBD depegs, goes below $1, there’s a bot that works with the DHF that fix’es it known as the HBD stabilizer, the stabilizer converts a certain allocated amount of HBD from DHF to HIVE(over 3 days conversion period) then uses the Hive to buy back the HBD and sends it back to the DHF.
And if it depegs harder enough, then it opens an avenue for traders to arbitrage, in the sense that, the HBD stabilizer will work over time to return the HBD to its peg, so a depegged HBD to the low side is an opportunity to buy cheap HBD that will surely get back to its peg as a result of the demand that will be generated. This market making opportunity also exists on UST.
Algo stable coins depegging should naturally not cause as much fear as is happening with UST and LUNA community especially if there are mechanisms to restore the peg.
This just shows how early we still are to all of this, perhaps UST needs a bit of centralization to get things right in its early stages, this attack combined with the current market price action is the first of its kind and needs solutions that need to be implemented on the move.
It’ll be cool if people were a little bit more patient but what do I know...

UST price went below $0.70. Things go like crazy! This is a test. Let's see what happens next!

Sweet buy in chance in my opinion. You see LUNA too, one doesn’t get so much chances at a moon shot.

Pun intended 😋

May not be a bad idea to buy some UST as cheap as possible.

Def, in time, it’ll be back up to the peg. Easy money

Awesome post. Thanks for the info. I saw Luna lose half its value in a minute this evening and I was wondering what the deal was. Thanks!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It’s a whole lot of drama.
Thank you and you’re welcome.

So there is no such thing as a peg token.
It shows the real value is what you can get at the present moment. In turbulence time all pigs fly to the window.
It is the nature of the market.
Like you mention it should not have to intervene if he stands behind his token.
Time will tell as you know there are now fans with no blade so when s&!t fly it will go straight to the other side.

.UST down HBD strong #FACTS

#FACT’s bro.
Hive backs HBD, a death spiral cannot happen on Hive because people use Hive for a lot of things.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Very nice article and comparison with HBD.
HBD has been under pressure lately due to the UST situation.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Thank you mrvlemon
I’m not sure whether it’s as a result of UST or the general market. I’m not sure how much effect the UST situation is also having on the general market.

Yeah. I think this was the wrong move (call me Captain Obvious). All it did was signal fear when it was intended to reassure. I mean if the big cheese is worried then I as a holder am gonna be doubly worried.
What does he know that I don't. Screw it. I'm out. I did not hold UST, but I guarantee that those thoughts went through many people's heads today. Ironically the move could have been to just hold fast and let it sort on the merits of the coin in the market.

Once again, Hive is way ahead of its time, if only they knew what Hive is. Well, this just shows how much we need to appreciate Hive more because it has proven once again to be truly decentralized
Posted using LeoFinance Mobile
Hive is far more decentralized than most cryptos out there. Very undervalued. Very undiscovered. This death spiral cannot happen on hive

This app is gonna be something great.

This is a big test for UST, hopefully it comes out of this and for HBD I believe we are learning something here, that under the radar situation of Hive at times pays off do we learn from the front runners
Posted using LeoFinance Mobile
Yeah we are definitely learning along, if they can procure a full time long term decentralized solution, then there can be more copies of standard decentralized stable coins

I think it's brilliant when you play stupid games you win stupid prizes. Do thought he is too smart for bitcoin and his ponzi would keep running and now the market is deleveraging like it did ponzis of the past (bitconnect) and his scrambling, selling his bitcoin at a loss lol
At this rate he should be tapped out in a week or 2, lol time to raise more capital from jump and a16z. What a joke

Damn! Truth hurts like crazy
LOL a lot of bank accounts got rekt, but you guys don't want to listen to me Im the crazy one calling out ponzis
UST played with fire too much. Stablecoins needs to be stale and therefore conservative and antifragile systems must be created. Creating an LFG treasury adds more centralization to the project and the UST had many unsustainable elements attached to it.
HBD should stick to our current ways and try to remain as decentralized as possible with sustainable economics. This would make sure HBD supply remain a fraction of HIVE marketcap. That is the price we pay for decentralized stability.

Yeah....they could have just gone Hive style with DHF.
HBD has really interesting mechanics to keep it in Check and we are getting better at it everyday. The hbd stabilizer is one gem that we have here and according to my research, it might not even be needed by the time hbd market gets matured enough.
Hbd is in a much better position than most algo stables out there
After what happened with UST/LUNA I have even more confidence in HBD (maybe excpect for the 20% interest rate) going forward. Give this a read when you have some time. I think HBD is more resilient to an attack like this.

Anyone can state that something is decentralized, but it isn’t until it is attacked that you see the true strength of a project.
Hive is battle tested, now UST has the opportunity to show what it is worth.
I hope the protocol will show that it is not the big capital injection is what helps it through this, but simple arbitrage on a well written smart contact.
That would prove UST to be a real decentralized algorithmic stable coin.
Adding capital is for centralized stable coins.

9 hours after your comment and things are not looking good Luna has fallen below 20$ UST at 0.76. It’s not smiley out there.
It’ll take a miracle to come back from this.
I wish Terra all the best at this point
me too
and if it doesn’t work out, then it is a good point to learn from for the next project that tries to surpass dai
I just bought some LUNA. Hope it's a good trade...

The bleeding is not over yet
I believe in DO that he will fix this. At least I can hope. :')
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I really want to believe he knows what he’s doing, I want to believe he has anticipated these moves and has a plan b and c. Luna is taking a beating right now it’s not looking good
Since we started noticing another bear market since three weeks now, many people are now selling their coin.

All over the place. Fud is everywhere

This seems like an attack, I won’t point fingers but you can find two major suspects names floating around. Still, people should be aware that these kinds of projects are vulnerable to attacks and manipulation before putting all their money in and living and dying by a project. I believe in hive and the community but it doesn’t mean it’s invincible.
Posted using LeoFinance Mobile
Despite the fact that UST is down, HBD still stay strong and that's good for the new stablecoin
Posted using LeoFinance Mobile
I learned so much from this post that I decided to follow you. I had no idea that there was an HBD Stabilizer that stepped in to correct the value of HBD. That is amazing how this blockchain works.
Very interesting stuff. Please check out edicted’s recent posts for more information on hbd and UST depeg.
Thank you for the follow I appreciate
