Seems like Hive has dropped down to Steem price levels for what I guess is the first time in a while, if ever. I don't remember seeing it this bad, anyway.
I had a casual look on there and dear god.
It's the usual flood of Korean and Chinese but I couldn't help notice Trafalgar's immensely lucrative spam campaign:
It's insane! Makes me wonder why I haven't continued on there.
What I presume is just automatically generated via a bot connected to ChatGPT, is earning $500 every single day with zero interaction.
Each post is a very formulaic setup of a few bullet points just talking bullshit in Chinese about, say, the invention of the computer mouse, or particularly large insects, or 'notable mathematicians'.
For what can only be a total of 0 seconds of effort every day, this guy is accumulating unfathomable wealth - $150,000-$200,000 a year.
Nobody reads it, nobody cares, and yet he is earning substantially more than great writers and minds on Substack such as Stephen Fry or Ted Gioia.
Hell, even here on Hive he's extracting 400 Hive/day passively, seemingly not having logged on at all in the last 4 years. Wild.
I suppose it's no different to my posts in terms of a lack of interaction, but I'm suckered into actually writing things myself like a loser - and get an absolute tiny fraction of those rewards in return for my trouble.
Don't get me wrong, my rewards are generally pretty damn gratifying, if nothing else but as a symbol that people trust I'm legit enough to vote for with a degree of consistency. But it would be nice if I could just dump a bunch of money here and vote myself into a mansion in under a year without the briefest of moments of effort.
Jeeze.
Yes, it’s gonna be a problem.. or it already a problem. This sort of automation in posts might be the start of the demise of Hive. How do we rise above?!
I don't think we do. Look at other social media. Spam absolutely dominates. There's like one person making 100 youtube channels all generated AI scripts, footage, and voice, all precisely taking advantage of the algorithms. Comments are often entire chains of bots interacting with each other.
Hell, even spotify is now more AI music than not, but nobody even notices or cares. At best, we have to just stay afloat somehow...
Well. At least I am real.
Maybe Hive needs to have a dedicated real people only community. Someone got to think of a way to authenticate realness. Like a frequent catchya task or something.
You can't prove that XD
One thing I like about this place is the lack of algorithm. Much healthier in principle
Just float, can't run dude
Don't forget, that's my ROOT! I came from "STEEM". I won't be Retired at an early age if it wasn't from "STEEMIT".
P.s. STEEm and STEEMIT are two different things. 😉
Used to be, they no longer are. Steem was taken over by steemit ltd or whatever that Justin Sun pack of thieves and frauds is called. Steem's governance is broken beyond repair.
True, but it's definitely not solely the steemit website and company making the place a shithole. It's endemic in the system... which is true for most places I suppose but not to that crazy extreme...
The fact you managed to retire early is... well, I'm jealous X-(
In all my years I don't suppose I made more than $25,000 I guess? Which is like a few months rent where I'm at!
What pumps up the Steem price? Would have thought that kind of printing would have devalued the currency by now.
Especially that there were 0 development since the fork. Compared to over four years of hard work in our universe.
Brb going... over here to... blog... on Steemit... doh I mean Hive.
(I'll never get back into Steem)
I've no idea, Maybe it's all lies. This is the first time I've even thought about it in a very long time. I don't think I've ever seen it truly pump above its current price, though.
