Lbry or Library recently announced that they will be moving away from the lbry.tv and LBRY name in exchange for Odysee in what they say will be a way to remove confusion from the brand as a whole, lbry.tv and Odysee are essentially front ends for the LBRY blockchain and are very much a part of the decentralised social media movement.
A common misconception of lbry.tv and Odysee is that it is for video content only but that is not the case, users can also post blog style content all with the famaliar and intiutive user interfaces, that is why i recommend any blogger use this platform to compliment their current activities.
Lbry will be keeping the brand though it will be exclusively attached to the blockchain itself whether this is a good move or not only time will tell, i have grown quite fond of the Lbry logo and am almost sad to see it go from front end designs but the Odysee front end has shown to be more popular with users so it's a good move overall, if you'd like to read more on the matter look HERE.

Nothing actually changed. LBRY is still the blockchain used to store and present the data. The changed the front end name to be Odysee to avoid confusion. Many other front ends can be built to display other data stored on the chain. Its just like HIVE is the chain and PEAKD is the frontend. They wanted to avoid the same branding mistake as STEEM made with everyone thinking it was the STEEMIT blockchain.

If YouTube keeps banning people - they will run to Odysee or theta - and Odysee has a super sweet import function that will pull your last like 900 YouTube posts and and every new post over.

But are links to videos starting with open.lbry.com going to stop working? I see that shares from Odysee (a mispelling that is hard to remember by the way) use odysee.com. If all my old links are going to be dead then that will be enough to stop using it and sell my LBC. It's not practical to fix dead links every time they want to rebrand.

STOPI don't know how to feel about the change yet. I like the tech but I think keeping lbry and making it more of a serious feeling front end would have been the better move. I love odysee but the word titles and snarky feel might not be the best for attracting an all-inclusive audience. having something for other people who don't want to learn a lot of new slang might be a good option too.
I feel the same in that i'm not sure how to feel just yet though the change will not happen until summer apparently so the community has an opportunity to speak up about it.
