Things got screwed up after World War 2 when the good old US decided to meddle and use Ukraine as it's cat's paw against Russia and a place to secret away some of its' more "dark" activities.
Unfortunately this is all coming home to roost on the people in Ukraine. There are a long list of countries around the world that wish the US had never taken an interest in them.
If we go back in history a bit further, many current issues & conflicts can be traced back to European colonization and more specifically, to British imperialism. USA itself is byproduct of that.
