I've been saying CBDCs are a trap that sow their own demise. This tweet says the people of #nigeria are seeing them correctly:
Q for our Nigerians: is this tweet accurate?

Retail CBDCs are going to be a collassal failure. These governments are going to learn that quickly.
If the want to set up a token for interbank settlements, that could work but that is not what the politicians are looking at.
Yeah people (should) see that having a coin on their phone without government is better than having a coin on their phone with government. Just wondering if that is actually how it is playing out in Nigeria
I've literally never seen anyone use Enaira CBDC in Nigeria. He said "1 out of 20" use the Enaira and that's false because it is probably "1 out of 10,000" that use it.
In Nigeria, we have a lot of non invasive alternatives that make Enaira pointless.
Interesting! So that makes it sound like people saw that crypto is far superior
Bitcoin adoption is among the highest in the world. Hell yeah, people think crypto is superior
Ping @belemo
ENaira was just a gimmick. Absolutely pointless and was a waste of time and resources.
