As announced in the news post, I come to you with the second part of the dCity guide. Today we're going to take a look at building a city and discuss some basic mechanics in the game.
First of all we need to get these cards from somewhere, we will do this by buying them either from the marketplace or "blindly".
First we need to deposit HIVE tokens into our Hive wallet and convert them into SWAP.HIVE. We can do this on the beeswap website, I use it a lot and I haven't had a problem with it and besides it has 4 times less commission than the original Hive Engine and there are some big changes coming soon to the website so keep watching!
After the HIVE deposit we should receive the SWAP.HIVE funds after a while. Now we can go to the Tribal DEX website and swap SWAP.HIVE for SIM, the main currency in the dCity game. Go to this page and select the SWAP.HIVE:SIM pair and make the swap.
Now we have enough SIM to buy our first cards. To do this we go to the dCity homepage and click BUY. I call this method blind buying because we buy, if we can call it, random cards from a given edition. We can choose between second and third edition. It is worth noting that it is much more profitable to buy cards for SIM than for HIVE. Firstly, paying in SIM is cool and secondly paying in SIM is over 2.5 times cheaper and it is not likely to change soon. I will buy 10 cards each from the second and third edition, it will come out to about one third of our capital.
Click the BUY button, select SIM payment and pay. So simple!
Moments after payment you will receive a notification in the top right corner that your cards have been received.
Our city has just been founded, congratulations! Now we need to optimize certain things to make our dCity function better. On the left side of the screen, you will see many different indicators that will tell you how your city is really performing.
I have divided these indicators into 6 sections. The first one is the probability of occurrence of various unfavourable conditions and information about various Events that are currently taking place in our city.
As you can see I have 10% chance for Pandemy and Fires in my city, 8.8% for Riots and 6, 4 and 3% for Economy Crisis, Power Outage and Nature Disaster respectively. How to take care of your city and how to set up an event in your city I will write a separate part of this guide.
The second section is information on the number of cards we have in the city and the number of SIM Power. There will be a special post about SIM Power and SIM in general! The first information in the section about cards is the total number of cards and the second one is the number of cards that "work", i.e. those that are active. As you can see we have 4 active cards out of 20 in total. This is not a good result but we will certainly improve it in the future!
In the third section, we can check many things about taxes, city earnings and war profits. I think that the most important issues to start with are taxes and earnings. In the first section of taxes, we have a list of how much tax is for what and in the second section, how much tax we will actually pay. Information about earnings is quite important, because it is written there how much we currently earn, how much we would earn maximum without taxes and whether we are entitled to receive Technology bonus.
The fourth section is a summary of the population of our city. The first icon tells us how much population we have and the second one tells us how many people we need to employ. Now you probably understand why 16 cards don't work, because we don't have enough workers.
The fifth section is information on the popularity of the city, the education score and the creativity score. The popularity of a town is an indicator that helps us increase the number of people in a town. There will be changes to the popularity score soon, so keep an eye on the dCity discord to stay up to date! Education, on the other hand, is an indicator which is needed to discover technologies. More about it in the special Technology post. Creativity is an indicator that helps us to get background and animations cards.
And finally, the last section is the information about the chance to get a new resident, the chance to change the resident's profession and the chance for some crimes. In general, the lower the chance of crime, the better, and the higher the chance of a resident learning a profession, the better.
If you are interested in the summary of your city, you can click on the Dashboard button in the CITY section. There you can see which cards your city has, what your SIM Power is, or check the demographics. There are a lot of different buttons and information that you can use in your free time to check what needs to be improved in your city.
We will definitely improve the number of working people in our city. The fastest way is simply to buy flats. I think the most convenient way will be to buy a Basic Home or an Apartment. They currently cost 88 and 595 SIM respectively. Basic Home gives us +1 to income and +4 to population and Apartment +5 to income and +20 to population. For example, if we bought 5 Apartments and 5 Basic Home there would be no unemployed in our city and the daily income would increase 22 times. You can check these other parameters in the Simulation tab. After these calculations I rush to the Market and buy these 10 cards!
This is more or less the beginning of such an actual adventure with dCity. I invite you to follow this guide because in the next parts we will discuss a lot of important issues such as Technology, SIM Power, Events and many others.

Very complex interface! Why is that? What to do?
You have an inactive card, I'm guessing it's an worker type building so you need staff. I invite you to check out my other guides so you can achieve your goal of building your dream city!
Thanks! But it is very difficult to understand the interface ... I am ready to put hives into the game, but I can’t figure it out ... If I don’t understand, I’ll have to leave. It's a pity.
If current income is in minus, what does it mean?
A valuable point, which is why I bought half each of the second and third edition cards for demonstration. Oh yes population is key, my city is an example. That is why you have to take care of this indicator. Thank you very much for your opinion!
Are there many people from dCity sitting on Archon? I'm asking about this tribe out of curiosity because I can't even access this site for a few days or weeks.
Okay, thank you for explanation. I can add the Archon tag but it would be great if I could enter the site, hah.
Have a good day!
