Is the era of free telegram airdrop over?
I wrote on this platform some months ago about the activities of telegram airdrops recently and in that write-up I posit that the recent money-mongering by the telegram mini game project is alien to airdrops and it is disastrous to the web3 growth and development. I also mentioned that, with the rate it is going, many people will develop apathy for web3 and cryptocurrency as a whole. With the look of things, it seems my prediction is coming to pass gradually. However, I am not a prophet of doom rather, I make informed decisions scientifically using variables at my disposal. However, one constant thing is change. Just as society is organic and it is subject to changes, hence, the operation of the airdrop will not be an exception if it tows the same direction.
Over the years, crypto enthusiasts, have been enjoying free airdrops accumulating to huge amount of money depending on how hardworking the person was. Permit me to say that such an era has passed. Maybe, by 2025 when browser-based projects begin, it might take another pattern and model. But for the telegram web3 project, the era of free airdrop is gradually ending. Telegram has become a business hub for many project owners and developers. These charges come in the form of ton transactions and telegram star purchases. These have become so problematic that those who are unable to partake in any of these will be left out of the coin allocation and if eventually selected, an insignificant portion of the coin will be allocated to such persons.
The concern with a lot of people is not about the charges and transactions per se, but the deception that comes with these promises. Some people have paid huge amounts for star purchases and ton transactions of which in the end, they are apportioned coins that do not value the amount spent. This is unfair and it is sending a wrong signal to the people. Though one might say that participating in telegram projects and paying for anything there is never compulsory. However, it might not be spelt out that it is compulsory, but the modus operandi is more compelling. People see this act as fraudulent and any project developer and owner who would not have the money to take care of the demands of airdrops should desist from it. Imagine someone who started mining coins from the beginning of a project, only to be left behind by those who joined the project some weeks before listing because they could purchase premium accounts and other subscriptions.
The fact is that things have changed and no airdrop projects will be free, hence, users should have this understanding that so many things in the web3 industry have been monetized and the population of users is growing daily. Many people are becoming aware of blockchain technology and how it affects lives positively. So, to be successful in telegram play to earn projects, you will need to be involved in the necessary transactions.
