It's distracting but a nice diversion for a while. It gives people a shot of belief and motivation to turn up every day and put int the work for a long term gain.
It's also attracts lots of eyes and surely lots of new users. Of course most won't stay but some will. Some will even build new apps and tools to bring even more success down the line.
We should enjoy these good times as we know how long it can be until the next wave when it's over.
Just think about all the people who joined in 2017 thinking they missed 2016, yet stayed. Yabapmat was one of those - he did okay with Splinterlands :) Khal from LEO too, or was he 2018? It is all a process and each phase people come and go, but the foundation gets stronger and more buildings are built.
Definitely enjoy a bit of these times :)
If we got five more people like that in this run, the next time around would be massive.
We are still building foundations so every new user or dev is a big win for the system.
Hopefully this price bump catches some attention and they see how splinterlands became so successful by building on hive and follow in the same direction.
While everyone wants to compete for numbers of users, this isn't Facebook. In crypto, "who" matters more than "how many". Perhaps worth a post, but it is apparent on Hive when it comes to adding value, and is very visible at the vote level. An account doesn't need 10,000 followers to make a decent income here - they need 100 patrons :)
It takes the concept of patronage from the renaissance and empowers it in so many ways.
The HDF will look healthy at these times - maybe a good time for Devs to come in.
