Hive is a survivor.
I was just thinking about my past six years in the crypto industry and how many great projects i have come across in those years.
Amazing plans and projects that could have changed the world and disrupted industries. None of them made it.
Even on STEEM there were some brilliant ideas that could have been massive. Again, they all died for various reasons. I remember one great idea about an early stage metaverse. I bought advertising space on the vegas strip, times square and piccadilly circus in London. If the project had kept growing the way they had planned I would have had some top tier digital real estate worth a lot of money right now. this is just one of many examples that could have made it big over the first few years.
I can't remember who was building it but they had the site up and running before the hive split.
According to a study by Investopedia, out of the over 1,000 cryptocurrencies that were in existence in January 2018, over 800 had failed by the end of that year. Another study by Coinopsy and Deadcoins, which tracks failed cryptocurrencies, reported that over 2,000 cryptocurrencies have failed since 2013.
A minimum of 80% failure rate with maybe another 5-10% that are close to dead. I've bought a lot of tokens over the years and if i still had them I can guarantee it would be a lot of lost money. Now my focus is a lot more centered. Focused on the tokens that have gone the distance and have some sort of value proposition and development.
The fact that we are here right now and growing is a amazing in itself.
Survival is an important factor for success in the highly volatile and rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrencies. The cryptocurrency market is highly unpredictable, and many projects have failed due to various factors, including poor execution, lack of adoption, and market volatility. Therefore, it is essential for cryptocurrency projects to survive and stay relevant in the long run to achieve success.
I really think that if we survive long enough as a project and keep building more usability into the eco-system that at some stage people will have to recognize us as a viable choice to build from even just based on the fact that we have such stability and longevity compared to 90% of other projects.
I noticed Presearch are looking for a new eco-system to operate form and while i don't see them choosing to build on hive at some stage age has to count as a positive compared to all of these new and shiny projects that keep failing one after another.
There is no point in building on a chain that won't be here in three years that haven't worked out their bugs yet if you want to last and grow a project.
Price point isn't the key metric of value but looking at 40c hive and I'm not selling at those prices. There was a time when 40c was a great price when the future wasn't so bright. Now we are all looking forward to when Hive hits $5 for the first time.
With longevity comes expectations. The longer that we survive and see what's possible. The more that we come to expect from the eco-system as everything improves.
The price will come with the growth from our apps. The best thing that i would like to see happen next is real development form the big teams.
Tools from blocktrades to let projects cross to the chain and more apps building stand alone projects that will carry their own weight in users. Build for other developers and let them help to grow the next generation of users. The longer that we last, the more attractive we become as a destination.
It's just a big game of last man standing to decide the winners of the crypto wars.

Many crypto initiatives have failed due to the industry's volatility. It's good to see that you've learned from previous mistakes and are now investing in tokens with a strong value proposition and a track record. Hive's survival and growth despite its hurdles is impressive. Longevity is a vital aspect in project success. Hive may attract additional projects seeking a stable blockchain over time. You make a good point about providing tools and apps to help Hive devs grow their projects. Doing so can boost ecosystem adoption and usage. I wish you well as you navigate this ever-changing crypto business.
I saw the PRESEARCH post and I dropped a comment and even shared the tweet on leothreads. The truth is, they're already a decent project but if they're blindsided I think they might end up losing everything they've built. The longevity of hive and prospect is unquestionable

They have lasted a long time themselves and i have used it with years. I'm hoping that they can make the switch to a proper chain and continue to grow and develop.
This could hurt them badly or launch them to new heights. It's always a risk to make a big move but hive did it and have thrived since.

I understand how important survival is in the crypto space. As you highlighted very few projects have made it this far. However, I consider 'growth' to be a more important metric. Is the project growing in terms of having viable projects and a healthy ecosystem and communities?

It's true that many promising projects have failed over the years, but it's great to see that Hive has managed to survive and grow despite the challenges. Stability and reliability are crucial for the long-term success of any project, and Hive seems to be demonstrating these qualities.
We are at such an early stage of development that it's even harder to succeed with anything.
That makes it even more impressive for the projects that do succeed. Hive being the first part and then the apps built on top of it the second part.
Next i would love to see more businesses built here that can sustain themselves and bring more people to the chain.

That is one thing about investing in Cryptocurrency at times, having this focus of moving on or ahead regardless of the end result is very important.
Today many have backed out as a result of failed project at some point in time, but some are still pushing regardless

This is a key point and I often consider liquidating most of my other Crypto holdings into HBD and leave it compounding at 20% for a few years.
I have a few other investments still alive but it might be time to move them back to hive.
There doesn't seem to be much life in any of them while hive just keeps growing.
It's a risk to bet it all on hive but it does seem like the best bet.

It's kind of amazing to see how things change over time but I do agree that many projects have failed. So surviving is an accomplishment and there is room for change or improvement if it does.

Even on hive about 90% fail but every single one does something for the chain. Adds something, develops something, teaches something.
Over time i hope to see more and more successes as they learn form others failures.

The ones who learn from failure are more likely to survive. So I am sure that most of them will try to learn what they can to make a successful project. At least the ones where the creator is trying to scam money out of people.

Yeah, all pretty valid points. Unfortunately, time seems to be the only "element" capable of exposing projects with no real future...

unfortunately, people drowned their money. And that damaged crypto a lot. I also lost the virus for a long time after one project.
Many promising projects has failed and in crypto survival is key

It is indeed a reality now that most of the crypto projects die within their first year and the reasons are many - not understanding the users, a weak governance and /or developing team, lack of vision, getting greedy and steal or getting theft by hackers etc. I also like the part where you mentioned about the possibilities of the pre search and hive collab, that would have been amazingly amazing and would have brought actual value in hive system. I also lost money in different projects mainly games, only splinterlands is still alive and working amongst them to be honest so I am working and investing more in here and stopped looking for any projects or coins outside hive ecosystem anymore.

Patience is definitely key in these things. Excellent point about price not being the way to judge actual value. Too many people only look at that one aspect of things.
