RE: Can I get a job in your country?

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Well, I do relate to your story. The closest I have gotten to a proper job is my current internship (as a content creator) which ends in a couple of weeks. My only solace now is that my partner, @blezyn , works in a corporate setting (as an underwriter). So we are the perfect blend of both worlds. We also plan to migrate and thus searching for opportunities abroad.

I am seeking a different career path as a programmer, which I believe will allow me to work abroad, plus I love tech.

What language are you learning?

I was learning Javascript before I stopped a couple of months back when I got my internship.

Nice. You got a lot of stuff going on and with those skills, you're going to be in demand. Were you learning online or offline?

Mainly online. I got some beginners courses online and a paid one on udemy but I will do something more serious next year in computer science. I need the degree as well

Starting all over from BSC scratch or just doing some courses?

Basics. I want to understand the theory as well as the practical aspect of programming mainly because I am more interested in backend stuff.

Good luck with that bro. Sounds like a solid plan tbh.

You guys seem to be in the same "get out of Nigeria" club. One of the things people in similar situations did was to apply to university in Germany. Another was a seasonal worker. I know some places in the countryside here do hire foriegn workers but it is tough.

To be honest it can get really shitty here. The only average people like us have is that we are out of the system. Plus we earn international. But that doesn't make us totally immune to the system

I have an uncle in Germany but we are not in close contact. Plus, I am not sure I want to live in Germany.

Lol hook us up!

I will look around and let you know what I find. There is a large Nigerian community here but I don't think that's the way to go. I will send you a PM tomorrow.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the support

I would start here in Linked in:

Also do some research.

I don't have a direct connection to someone hiring now but I will let you know if I do. Also feel free to ask any question.

There are also plenty of head hunters:

This is also a facebook page for factory jobs in South Korea

Thank you so much for the information (sorry for replying late. Been spending the weekend with my girlfriend). I will go throw them. If I do have questions hope you don't mind me reaching out?

I also took this weekend off to rest. Feel free to ask about language and or double check a company for history... Some are worse than others.
