What do you guys think of this? Only 46% of all HP is participating in Governance and 46% is controlled by the top 50 accounts#hp #hivewhales

Sort:

details?

only 46% of all the HP out there is participating in governance.

Link(s) where we call look up thia info for ourselves?

Sorry, I think 80% participates in governance, 46% is owned by the top 50 accounts. Dalz latest stats post gives some numbers at the convo here https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@mahdiyari/hbd-interest-rate-hive-economics#@mahdiyari/s02hdy

Okay, I want the tools, or know how, to look up the stats myself. Know what I mean?

If

Yeah, it would be nice. Most that do put these together build their own tools

Then as your name says....

this means that less than 1% of hivers have more power desition than the other 99%. There is inequality in Hive, but again most of them earned that HP fairly or invest a lot of money to get it.

Whatever the numbers it does highlight that all accounts, especially smaller ones, need to participate in governance.

If the larger ones arent participating, it gives smaller accounts even more power in this regard.

Right, there needs to be more outreach and education about how to use the benefits that are earned here.

Certainly important factors.

I think this is mathematically sound concept, but in reality I feel small accounts are powerless. Even a 60k hive account can be downvoted repeatedly to zero by the small number of people who have large delegations from absentee landlords.

Governance have no downvotes.

true. I wonder if anyone has ever suggested decaying delegations, like the decaying witness votes?

Partially a mixture of decentralized voting. Some know little about what to vote on. While some bigger accounts have stronger voting power with less competition. Certainly some centralization, but that comes with performance that's needed.

Hive has long suffered from absentee landlord syndrome. People delegate HP and forget it. Then wash their hands of evil done with their stake.

Yup or just leave never to return. At least we have decaying votes for witnesses, but that only solves some of the problem
