KyberSwap Hacker Initiates Money Laundering Through Tornado Cash

In the aftermath of the recent KyberSwap DEX attack, which resulted in a substantial loss of $48.8 million USD, the perpetrator has taken a significant step to obfuscate the origin of the embezzled funds. Recent blockchain analysis reveals that on December 3rd, the hacker executed a series of transactions, transferring over 2,010 ETH from Arbitrum to Ethereum.

What's notable is the subsequent intricate maneuver—funneling 1,000 ETH into Tornado Cash through multiple smaller transactions of 100 ETH each. This strategic move is evidently aimed at complicating the tracking of the pilfered funds.

Adding another layer of complexity, the hacker had earlier made an unexpected proposition, offering to return 50% of the embezzled assets if Kyber Network management handed over control of the entire project.

In response to these audacious demands, the Kyber Network team has stood firm, outright rejecting the proposal. They have publicly committed to compensating affected users in full and have initiated a rigorous investigation to expose the identity of the perpetrator.

The recent engagement in money laundering activities through Tornado Cash by the hacker seems to signal a recognition that reaching any agreement with Kyber Network is improbable. As this unfolding saga captivates the crypto community, further developments in this intricate digital drama are eagerly awaited.
