Overviewing the incubation I can tell you a lot is improving, our rules we've set in place that can be read in a recent ocd post are working well to 1, not constantly reward the same users (unless there just really is a lack of other quality content from others) and 2, not reward users who already do fairly well (say $20+ in rewards from it's own). Another great thing with the incubation and the way we reward the community leaders, curators and moderators is that with a higher price it can scale rather well. Upvotes worth more with same voting mana spent, community can scale up to invite more curators and moderators and at the same time we can reward more authors if activity has gone up with the same upvote ratio (generally we keep it 10% curators - 90% authors of the community with some exceptions (if part of the curation report rewards are used to fund tips to be sent to deserving comments, but this latter might not be needed anymore with upcoming linear curve).
Anyway, glad to see someone you onboarded was found and curated, the Hive Gaming community has been doing really well thanks to the help of @perceval and @pusen lately adding a lot of time and effort to make sure to reward what's deserving and this author was. The latter votes unfortunately are a bit blind and rancho seems to just cast on whatever is trending at the time which often leads to reward the same users over and over who get to trending from blind autovotes to begin with and that's one of the reasons we've also been downvote curating with ocdb on such occasions.
Thanks for all of that awesome info! I wish you could reblog comments. I would totally be sharing this. I get that about not wanting to upvote posts that hit that 20 mark. I almost wish there was a citation service for those who get stuck in that 20 to 29 range. Though rewards like that are nothing to complain about, it can feel like you are not continuing to grow and therefore failing.
Of course we do still reward exceptional content even if it's $40+ and bring a lot of them up there, even if it means less curation returns with the current rules. It's awesome to be able to bring posts to trending from unique authors every now and then like the one mentioned in your post. :)
That make sense!
