Now-a-days anonymity is seen, by many, as a bad thing because people have forgotten what life used to be like when we had privacy. Some people have such a comfortable life (on and offline) that they never feel the need for it.

Yes. The "everyone should be public" is such a Scandinavian attitude that comes from an extremely safe and high-trust society. Ask someone from Brazil or Congo how they feel about it.
Can't afford to be public in today's society, that's for sure.
