Hard to say the best. Central Oregon is pretty good. Three of the seven wonders of Oregon are within 2 hours of Bend. Some others, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon Coast, the Wallowas/Joesph area. The travel Oregon website has a lot of info, see next thread.
