Being liberal is very imperative for community leaders in activating their communities. They must be willing to respect and accept opinions different from their own. They have to be open to new ideas to being the community forward.

This is correct, the feedback that should exist between the founders or leaders with their community should be based on respect with respect to their ideas, and above all take into account what they say.
Once you decide to be a leader, you have to open yourself up for criticism but you must also know what is just criticism and what is constructive. There's no way a community will move forward if they don't listen to other opinions.
