Man loses his life savings sending unsupported cypto tokens to smart contract

in LeoFinance4 years ago

A man sent just over 4,000 LINK tokens to a smart contract belonging to decentralized finance (DeFi) game Aavegotchi. These tokens, worth over $50,000 apparently represented his life savings. Unfortunately for him, the contract doesn't support LINK tokens, so his money is gone - stuck in limbo forever. The guy from Aavegotchi is holding a charity fundraiser to raise funds for the guy who lost his $50k, but so far they've only raised around $1,000.

Let this serve as a reminder to us all to be careful!

What a terrible mistake.
But it does remind to never invest money you cannot afford to loose.

It would be too harsh to blame stupidity. But it shows how mass adoption is going to be difficult. People are not “crypto” educated, and those willing to take the first step can be wiped out so easily. It’s our duty, all of us, to provide educational content and prevent horror story like this one

Wow! That's a terrible story.

Man I am heartbroken. It's a nightmare and this is another major problem crypto world faces today. That is why it is important to triple check before sending big amounts, I always send small amount first and then send the big one .
