CB Radio?
If I gave more thought would of been my guess as I used a CB Radio somewhat frequently at one point. The fishing industry and other industries uses/used CB Radio often. Updated to VHF's and of course cell phone use.
No, not CB.
CB is like kinder garden.
VHF is local, short distance.
A truly global actions are possible only on HF, or short wave radio.
This is like the top, elite class of all sorts of radio related hobbies.
Never left my home, yet could easy recognise people by their accent, detect if one talks from New Hampshire, or Texas, ow California, or UK, or Australia, or Russia, or Italy, or Germany.
While all of them speak8ng English.
