RE: How Much Does Your Passport Worth? The Henley Passport Index

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Yeah, I do feel lucky to be at number 7. Even without a passport I can go to so many places just with my National ID. Want a funny story about that? As I enter Montenegro years ago on my motorcycle the guy at the border asks for my documents. I give him my ID and he says "when does this expire?". I say "it's a national ID it doesn't expire". So he goes "And you're gonna stay young like this?" pointing at my picture 😄

Sort:

I can also travel to EU member countries with my ID.

About that story, let me tell you another one, besides how stupid is to not put an expiration date to the ID. 🙂 No offense as it's not your fault.

Turns out driving licenses in Germany also never expire, which is just as stupid as your ID 😂

Two years ago we had some guests from Germany and the woman, around 55 now or so, showed us her driving license, that was issued when she was 18. How stupid is that? She has changed a bit since than, not to mention that license was a piece of paper, without any security element added.

I'm not an expert, but with digitization developing so fast, things will change soon.

I think they do expire there but not before your late 60s early 70s or so (just like here). I posted about changing my driving license not too long ago and now the Greek state will offer a digital one that you can have on your phone. I did it voluntarily, I could keep the same for many more years with a picture from my late teens :)

The difference here is that when your driving license expires, which is every 10 years till you are 70 I believe, you need a medical examination. Fail that and you get no driving license. It sounds tough but I agree with it.

We need medical exams too but not every 10 years. After 68 I think we must pass them every 2-3 years. Don't wanna look at it cause I'm not close and I don't wanna think about it now :)
