I guess my concern with this is the cost and payout. I tried FoldingatHome a few years ago. It is where individuals can share their processing power for medical research, and they are given tokens for their contribution. Since I used a weak PC, I only got a few tokens in return. If it will be similar to what you are saying, then I wonder if the earnings will be enough to cover the cost of electricity, and the devices.

Considering that, over time, the cost of compute comes down, at some point it will be across the board. It will naturally depend upon what the payment plan is in each situation.
