We finally have a new government and also an investment gains tax!

Broadest shoulders

That was the talk when they started to form a coalition for a new government 7 months ago. The “broadest shoulders” would have to “carry the heaviest load” when it came to taxes.
7 months later, they finally have an agreement and Flemish nationalist, Bart De Wever is our new prime minister. But…

The broadest shoulders story was as we all thought just a story to keep us quiet.
The pensions will be reformed and end up lower. Labour taxation will only be lowered as of next year, but as of this year we will pay a tax on the gains of our investments. Stocks, bonds, ETF’s and crypto, the gains will be taxed at 10 %, but losses won’t be tax deductible…

A new year a new tax, the one thing that wasn’t taxed in Belgium will now also have a siphon to the government.

Another sad day for the common man in our country!

Sincerely,
