I have never calculated the exact amount of money that I invested in Splinterlands, but I suppose that I didn't get my investment back... Mostly, by my fault as I did have moments when I was able to take some profits, but I didn't... I remember the time when my owned card value was over 40K USD, and today, it's around 6K...
On the other side, I have used my "token trading skills" and speculated a bit with packs and took some profits there... Currently, I'm more focused on accumulating tokens (staking and adding liquidity to SL pools), than on buying cards in the game... But, I agree with you that maybe now is a good moment to build up your cards as card prices are ridiculously low...
I also didn't get my investment back, and I mostly cannot remember the amount of money I put in. However all I remember was that I was investing in cards when level one Djinn Oshannus was $39.
As for you. 40k is a ridiculous amount of money and if you had liquidated your assets back then and bought back at this prices, you'd probably be one of the biggest stakeholders in the game.
But I think a lot of us have learned one or two things about last bull run for splinterlands, and are hopefully going to do better in the next run I guess.
You're making the right moves, I just wish I had the cash to buy the cards I want.
That's for sure! And not just with Splinterlands, but also with all other assets too... Regarding Splinterlands, specifically, I think that I would do almost the same thing again... lol... But, maybe would "re-arrange" my cards earlier... That's something that I have done later than I should have... To sell cards that I don't use and buy those that I need...
Btw, I didn't buy those 40K and I have invested much less money, but I did invest a lot of time, for sure...
Yeah, they went up. For me, I think I'll do the same as you, sell off cards I might not be using to buy the ones I actually need. For me, I'll do a lot of things differently, like not buying any assets at the peak of their price and try to take profit when it mattered the most though.
