So a while back I wrote about fraudulent emails I've been getting that are pretending to be Coinbase (I still get those every now and then and I always report them to Coinbase; I do the same reporting to PayPal when I get fake PayPal emails). Today's scammers are pretending to be Metamask:
Always look at the address ...Metamask would not have an address of "webinarinfo at webinarjam dot net". Also my name is not and never has been "Keith," lol.
My guess is since people can store NFTs in a Metamask wallet, they're trying to catch some unsavvy investor who hopped on board the hype train but doesn't really know what they're doing. So make sure that if you know any crypto newbies who are dipping their toes in due to NFT FOMO, that they know to beware of these phishing scams!
I poked around on the Metamask site and I couldn't find any place to report phishing scams, only general articles about "how to avoid scams" and the like. If y'all know of them taking reports, let me know and I'll send it their way as well.
Be safe out there!
Thanks for sharing this and am glad you are too smart and keeping your wallet safe.
Always alert.
I think there is probably a scam for each thing worth money 😢
!PIZZA !ALIVE
Probably!
It seems like life used to be so much simpler. I am actually fairly certain that it was. Ha ha. However, what the hell did we do before the internet? Confession: This nerd girl used to go on a biweekly excursion to the library with a notebook (made of paper) full of questions that I had to answer by getting actual books. It was an ordeal. Okay, fine. I like modern life even if some jerk will probably scam me out of my life savings. (But, Harlow... you have no life savings. Hey! Shhh...)
Hahahahaha. Yes I am old enough to remember Ye Olde Card Catalog as well!
🤯 Thanks for sharing this information❕
