I have a small business. Luckily I started making changes long before any of this happened (just by chance, not foresight), but I am watching others that do the same as me struggle.
I think there is something that has not been discussed much in the economy...
That is the government just gave away vast amounts of money, nearly for free (COVID PPP Looans). Very little interest and practically no requirements. I think a lot of small businesses are still surviving off these funds. Not only that, but typically small businesses have credit lines available. Buisness cards, lines of credits, supplier terms....
I am thinking many are still surviving despite tough times by over extending themselves. If they continue to get leveraged, and the economy continues to struggle for an extended period (which it will be), they are essentially gonna start getting margin called soon (so to speak)
Credit lines are gonna run out, and supplier accounts are gonna come due if they are not able to return to previous levels in a short period. Not only that but we have the winter which is a slow down for most industries. I am concerned for the end of the year.
