A sign of mainstreaming? The grocery store I shop at most often just installed a new crypto kiosk. The old one they’d had for the last year was Bitcoin-only, this one offers 20 other cryptocurrencies. Fees are significant. When I was there, they were selling Bitcoin for $65,594.41 as coingecko.com was showing a $56,234.41 current price.

Yup. The teaser mentioned only a phone number. But for curiosity’s sake, I just tried the kiosk. Once you get past that first prompt, it wants your ID and SSN. Um, no thanks. Their markup makes even Coinbase look cheap.
Doesnt sound like a winner to me.

You have to do the KYC online before you buy it. Then you go to the kiosk, put your money in, and it prints you a coupon with a code on it. You go home, input the code into your account, and the crypto shows up.

The instructions I saw only mentioned entering a phone number. But I haven’t used the machine yet. I’ll have to see if fees are more reasonable for Litecoin or one of the other alts. The only other kiosk I’ve ever used was a few years ago in Las Vegas; that one was KYC, wanting a scan of your driver’s license.
So what happens when someone puts in a false phone number?

Even though the price difference is ridiculous, but I will take it. More entry & exit points will only help us with the adoption. How do these Kiosks look like? I wanna see a picture if you can provide..
