Eh that's what happens when your party's main objective is simply to obstruct the other side.
In theory not holding an election and not picking the most popular candidate should be bad for the dems. GOP just likes to whine about everything. Not that I think the other side is any better with the whole Trump-derangement-syndrome development.
Dems have been openly rigging their primaries for at least the last 3 election cycles. Their voters just accept it now that they're not really picking anyone, just defeating the orange man.
